Time to switch?

So I've been using a maxed LThor and OBW for my main two-man team. After (finally) grabbing my fifth purple LDaken from the progression reward, I'm looking at a soft-capped 5/3/1 Lvl 92 Daken.

What I can't decide is whether it's worth swapping out OBW for LDaken yet. I'd be losing a small amount of match damage and gaining a small amount of HP, but mostly I'd be trading a lot of utility for a big increase in early damage. There's also a certain amount of psychological defensive value; no one enjoys attacking a Daken.

Thoughts?

  • Close call, but I would say no, stick with OBW.

Firstly, OBW can still win a match by herself with a lucky cascade. To this day everytime I fight a team with OBW on it I just hold my breath and hope she doesn't get some lucky purple waterfall action going. Nine times out of ten I can kill her first no problem, but that tenth time.....

Secondly, your lvl 92 Daken is still fairly low level, and has a low power level. So even though he can spit out 2 strike tiles, they are gonna be weak. His black is only at 3 covers, so he won't be able to regen effectively. His hit points at lvl 92 are probably comparable to OBW, so both heroes are squishy and not a deterrent.

In summary, I feel OBW still gives you some advantages, namely you will occasionally get a surprise win with her on defense, and her ability to steal AP will help your Lazy Thor more than LD can. Neither will deter people from attacking you, but OBW brings more to the table (heals, steals) that will probably serve as an offensive advantage.

As a 2* player, I'd never attack a max LThor, but if it was a 2* Thor and my choice of attacking Thor + OBW or Thor + Level 92 Daken, I'd attack the Thor/OBW every single time. I think you should try the Daken and see if you are getting hit more often or less often. Of course nothing matches OBW for getting an extended playtime from her healing, but if that isn't your primary consideration the other combo seems worth trying.
