Hire Clintman as a paid community representative.
He is making many thought out eloquent responses, clearly understands the playerbase and meta of the game and people are listening to him
In the past IceIX was a great liaison on the forums but he himself admitted he has too many other hats to wear and it is showing.
If this happened, Clintman would find himself severely restricted as to what he'd be allowed to say on these forums. IceIX is an employee of Demiurge and is subject to an NDA agreement, plus whatever policies they or D3/Capcom have in place regarding community interactions. Games publishers and developers take their "secrets" incredibly seriously; any attempt by an employee to tell us what's really happening with this game - not just the sanitised, deliberately vague patch notes, but the strategy for the game in general and the real reason behind any of the decisions - would result in them being slapped with a gross misconduct disciplinary charge and potentially fired.0 -
Talking about tokens, right now I think the 3* tier is too carefully planned out. Demiurge pretty much knows which 3* they will offer to the community and among the group of people that play every event they will all max out their 3* at the same time unless they are incredibly lucky with a token or paid to max their skills.
This predetermined flow of 3*s takes a lot of the fun out for me. there should be some sense that I have a chance to max out my torch by winning 3* tokens. As it stands I feel like I am waiting for Demiurge to plan 2 more events where they offer the covers I need. I'm also still waiting on 1 more BP cover before I can max him despite winning all the BP covers that have been offered since he was first introduced. Thats a long time and it's frustrating to think that I'm reliant on Demiurge to plan an event that makes use of the character.
I think that offering specific covers as rewards has it's value since they can ensure that players that are transitioning from their 2*s can reliably get access to a complete set but I would love to see every other PvP offer guaranteed 3* tokens instead.
Like clintman said, we are wising up a bit and not just throwing HP at every event. I'm sure if a player already has an event's covers then they might not even shield at all and just grind it for ISO. If an event offered 3*tokens instead as it's top prizes, at least there would be more incentive to place
The other thing that went downhill is the excitement around the 1100 progression reward. Now it's always the cover of the featured character. Before season 1 started we drove to 1100 because there were interesting rewards at that level. most of the time it was the cover of a newly introduced character that many people needed. Now not so much. Once again, if there was a larger incentive at 1100, more people would spend shields to hit that score.
As far as sharding goes. Player's should be able to choose the shard they compete on and the rewards should reflect the difficulty of that shard. a 1* shard should offer 1* covers and mid to low level 2* covers as prizes as well as lower levels of ISO. that would prevent a 3* player from going down to an easy shard to grind.0 -

Yeah, it feels like there are only two consistent ways to progress into 3* territory right now, one of them is all up to Demiurge and the other involves large amounts of HP.
My first post on this forum was asking for advice about what to do while waiting to transition from 2* to 3*. That was almost exactly one month ago, and looking back at it, at the time I thought I had a shot into making Hulk my first usable 3*. He had 5 covers and I soon got 2 more (one from season 1 progression other from token luck). He has been sitting on 7 covers since then, simply because Demiurge did not feature him at all lately.
Meanwhile there was the whole Falcon event, Lazy Daken event and a bunch of events with Psylocke as reward, besides one with Patch.
Now I have a Patch with 7 covers (had 3 one month ago), Falcon with 7 covers (had 2 one month ago) and Psylocke and LDaken sitting at 8 covers (had none of both last month).
So yeah, I feel like I'm at the mercy of Demiurge and their reward rotation to max someone. And now with Sentry there's another 3* that I'll have barely usable.0 -
Plus you also have the advantage of being able to win events. I just got my first 3* cover in weeks from the Daken PvP event. I'm doing everything right in PvP short of spending tons of cash on hero points to shield jump, and I still usually end up below top 50.0

I've been shielding since the end of Season 1. I don't actually shield hop, just try to go as far as I can and then get the cheapest shield I can for the rest of the event. I'm waiting for the next event with **** rewards to see where I end up staying without shields but I'm guessing out of top 50 too.0 -

I am with you on the planning, though what bothers me more is that their cover drops for HT and Falcon seemed to be less than what they gave for featured characters in the past. It wasn't the drop schedule that bothered me it was the fact that I had no idea what the schedule was. I am with you on HT, I really want to finish him up, but they have not done an event with his covers as rewards. Instead we got a month of Ragnarok and Loki covers /shudder.
I could be happy knowing that after a featured event that they would plan in relatively quick succession to have events awarding a total of 10 covers, leaving the last 3 to either be purchased, found randomly in cover packs or to wait 1-2 months for the final cover set to be released. That way I could say, "Man I want to max out Sentry, I will go ahead and buy 3 covers right now, so I can max him out in the next group of events. Not knowing what the drop plan is going to be makes me hedge my bets and in many cased choose not to buy covers because I don't want to spend so much HP only to have the covers drop in the next event.0 -

Having a schedule like you suggest, max of 10 covers now with 3 more each following month, would go a long ways towards convincing me to spend money as I would know what the trade off is. I would be willing to spend a few dollars to avoid having to either push hard for all 10 covers, or to avoid having to wait the extra couple months.
The coming out parties for Bruce and LCap were awesome in that I felt like I could win every cover I would need....but that was bad for monetization (and therefore the life of the game). Ive been crazy busy the past couple months and wasnt able to fully cover Patch, LT, BP, HT or Falcon....and Im not willing to dump any cash as I keep thinking that there will be opportunities to get the covers I want just around the corner. If I KNEW that wasnt the case, I might actually pay for them....or I could just be crazy patient.0 -

+1,000,000 this
WHY IS THIS SO FREAKING DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO COMPREHEND?!?!?! I never use all caps but MY RAGE IS OVERWHELMING!!!0 -
I'm currently transitioning from 2* to 3*, with underleveled Magneto and Punisher leading the way. Since sharding begun, I have essentially stopped progressing at all, as in all events I have been facing ridiculous competition and scores. After grinding the Daken event to death and STILL being out of top 50 with 800 pts, I decided to call it a day. I won't say I'm done, maybe i'll drop by every day to do a single combat, but I see no point in playing more because:
- It's a chore
- It's quite hard to progress at all. Rewards are ridiculous.
- "Progress" is relative because apparently you have to grind even more and more at the highest levels...
So, no thank you. There are (much) better ways to spend my time. Maybe they manage to address some of these issues, but I'm not sure they will, since it would require that they began focusing on player fun rather than fine tuning extortion techniques. Such massive change in focus does not seem likely. I'll keep an eye on the game, just in case, but it has grown sour for me. It was fun while it lasted.0 -
I concur with tiborvadovan that the transition to 3* has gotten much, much harder and therefore my desire to play PVP (and even PVE) has dropped.
What Ive noticed is that Im in a much more all or nothing mode in looking at the PVP rewards to determine if Im going to play a tourney or not. Ive completely given up on Season II, and look at a tourney to see if I want the rewards, then figure if Im willing to push past 1,100 (generally not since it is a GRIND starting with 2+ 141s from zero points up). It doesnt help that the prize rewards have gotten worse. If I dont want them, I push to 300 and call it quits as there arent really any good rewards past that (the HP at 900 is tiny, and is just a bonus if Im going for 1,100). That has lead me to play a TON less: Ive not passed 500 a couple times recently. That hasnt happened since before December.
TLDR: Ive spent less HP, no $$, less time and am less satisfied with the game since Seasons started, and my progression has stalled.0
