Major character changes

So as I wallow in sadness over the flaying of Spider-man I am trying to think of ways the guys at D3P could make these changes more reasonable.

The best one I came up with was similar to how WOW reset talent trees back in the day when there were class nerfs or modifications.

It seems to me that if the Devs gave us the ability to adjust our covers once they were maxed out or when there were changes it might be a bit more palatable.

My best example is Spider-Man:

Most people ran him at 3-5-5 but after the change 5-3-5 would be nice.

The reality is no one wants to make the 2500hp spend to do this now.

Here the benefits of giving us some adjustability makes the new character more rapidly useable and the effects of the changes more rapidly visible within the community.

Hopefully IceX gets a gander at this and other ideas this thread might come up with.

The community is really unhappy with the scope of changes made to the character.

It is a trust issue as many of us have invested time and money (one in the same) for a pitiful sell back value and absolutely no way to be compensated for our investment.

I think the way you were compensated for your investment was the time you got to spend wrecking everything in the game with 2AP Spidey and all of the rewards that the character has earned you during that time. I don't think a respec makes too much sense: this game is built such that certain cover colors are more desirable than others, and I could see a complete cover reset be problematic: if you had a 0/0/3 spidey you could respec to 1/1/1 and be a lot better off, for instance. Finally, the difference between a 5/3/5 Spidey and 3/5/5 Spidey really isn't that big of a difference relatively speaking. You can afford to have a suboptimal build until they give out more Spidey covers for you to respec in without it being that big of a deal. At least we have a respec option in game now: I remember back in the days when you couldn't even respec at all: could you imagine the rage if this was the case now.
  • Instead of healing every fourth turn, I now have to swap out my damaged heroes every few matches. It's a good thing I maxed out Punisher, C. Magneto, Black Panther, Lazy Thor, Patch and Psylocke with all of the ISO I won using Spider-Man before his Sucktacular Spider-Nerf. The build of your Spider-Man no longer matters. Even at max yellow his healing ability is not fast enough to replenish the health of high-level characters fast enough when you are at the end of a PVP push and when time really counts. Spider-Man s no longer a viable strategic option for endgame players in the high-point range of a PVP tournament.

And let us not pretend that we are going to bring him into battle for his purple protect tiles. You're going to waste a roster slot on someone with 0 offense who isn't The Hood? Have fun finishing top 25.
  • Yep. I tried using him after the change, then again after they fixed purple. I end matches with more health without spider-man than with him.
  • All this nerfing & changes to general gameplay reminds me of marvel avengers alliance on playdom. I hope its not going down there road..
