Getting 2* covers from PvP. Likelihood?

Hey guys,

I am told that I should continue grinding PvP to get my 2* covers, yet my luck has been rather rotten recently. Does anyone know if the 2* rate drops increases as you move up the ranks? For example when one first starts a PvP event, it is mostly 1* covers and **** ISO - but after some point mark does the chance of a 2* drop increases? Or is it random throughout?

Thanks.

  • I believe it's a static chance. I get a 2* roughly one match out of twenty, however I also once had three 2* covers in a row.

In the Heavy Metal tournament that just ended, I ended up getting maybe 7-8 2* covers in a row. I think overall in the past day or 2 I've had 15 2* covers drop and only 2-3 1* covers drop, which was strange.
  • I had 4 in a row today, skipped 2 and then 3 more, but there have been times where i get none for a long time, there is a percentage chance I'm sure and I just got lucky today (not a single one that was usable so idk if that's really lucky it was just 250 iso each time)
  • I get at least 5-10 from every pvp if not more.. It took a lot longer before the change but maybe there is some secret formula where only people with fully covered 2*s get more covers.. I really don't know but it does seem random enough and in my case and apparently most of the forum they drop like flies. So I'm guessing it's just bad luck unfortunately. There should be a 1* tournament coming up according to the forums, hopefully you have better luck there. Also I personally used to purposely place lower in events to get the 2* cover if it was important. I regret it now since I'm rolling in 2*s and desperate for 3*s but it did get me to the point where I could consistantly win 3*s.

I guess that is always the tradeoff, we are conditioned to want things that give us immediate satisfaction now and discard that which may benefit us in the very long run. I actually have more 3* covers than I do 2* covers icon_e_sad.gif Yet I am badly stuck in the 1*->2* transition and its painful. Perhaps that is their way of getting us to spend $$, but spending $$ on covers is nutty.

Have you grinded the Story nodes? You can get a good start on Daken, Wolverine & Thor just by cleaning up the respective nodes. Also, buying standard tokens is a possibility (I usually get two 3 star covers and four 2 star covers on every 30 standard tokens).

I doubt that the possibilities of getting a 2* cover is affected by anything - it is almost certainly a flat chance. Computers, unfortunately, do not generate random numbers very well and tend to get locked into trends (generating the same number multiple times.)

I've been tracking the PVP rewards. Out of 362 bouts %33.1 were characters (120.) Out of the 120 characters %77.5 were *, %22.5 were **, I have yet to receive a *** directly from PVP. I don't know if it's possible - the numbers seem to be close to a standard token and the chance of a rare on a random token is about %2.5, which means I should have gotten one to three by now but as I said above, computers aren't incredibly good at generating random numbers, and it could be I just didn't get one.

It may be that it only generates * and ** - it does seem that the ** chance is slightly higher on PVP than it is on a standard token.

The chances are static but it seems when luck is with you you'll get a few 2* in a row.

Grinding pvp is a pretty good way to build a decent 2* team. Lightening rounds are great for newer players especially if you get in early and are fighting seed teams.. easy ISO and progression rewards. I've gotten plenty of 1* & 2*'s from pvp.. never gotten a 3*.
