Sever disconnection shield

So last night I was pushing for 1000 and hit about 950. I decided I would play one more game, shield, and then call it a night. Well after my match I (and many others) got a server disconnection and the iron man PVP went missing. I was in first place with about 950. I decided to wait about 20 minutes until it popped back up to no avail. I did however noticed that I was losing points during this time (about 200). I was frustrated but thought the worst was over and went to bed (unable to shield because of the server loss). I woke up in the morning and saw that the server was back up and I had dropped from 780 point to about 400. I went from 1st place to 100+ over night because I could not shield.

Is there a way that when the server disconnects you can just shield the client until they log back in? Either that or compensate the client? I am now struggling to get up to the top ten because of the end time for the PVP event.
