Profane procession error [Investigating]

I was in legacy training grounds using Kaya.
Profane Procession would summon the exiled creatures back onto my OPPONENT'S field if I did not have space for them.
I played multiple rounds to make sure I was seeing correctly.
I was using Zirda to trigger the effect consistently.
