OK, guilty, I whaled out yesterday and openend a slew of packs.
At first I was excited, reading each new card and then clicking for the next, but as I progressed i got more and more dupes wtill I kept my finger of the screen to move past the ones I know. At the end I actually didn't want to sit through another 25  popped mana symbols, 25 blue flashes and 25 cards zipping past.

Can we as an option please skip the pack opening ritual? just click the pack and immediatly go to the screen with new cards or if there weren't any to the screen withh orb conversion?

I suffer from this particular first world problem. I want to just spend my 5k Crystal's all at once and open all the packs at once. I will view them afterwards in the card gallery. Instead I just sit and hold my thumb on the screen for like 30 minutes.

With this being such a grinding-heavy game, it does begin to feel like a chore after a while (especially since I cannot remember the last time I actually got a mythic directly from a booster pack).

Congratulations, you have *yet another* Guilds of Ravnica pack to open.  Oh boy!

I've been opening stored packs while watching tv with my preschooler, and even then I usually get through 9 or 10 and get tired of the whole process. It's silly that there isn't an "open all" button.

This may sound controversial, however, the design keeps people with addictive personalities coming back for more. Kind of like the lights and sounds of casino slots.
There is research showing that it’s more valid than one might assume.
The novelty factor is strong in how the human brain operates. The way they make each rarer card shake more before the reveal, the sound effect, the “thrill” of the unknown... it must be by design.

I’m halfway joking here, as I don’t think MTGPQ is even close to the level of some infamous apps.

Susceptible individuals will be more enticed. Certainly, it has a demonstrated effect on the brains of rats. This susceptibility to compulsion runs in my family- my grandma snuck out of hospital the day after open-heart surgery to hit the slots/bingo, and raced back before sunrise to plug herself back in! She was well and truly addicted.
I use my intelligence and insight to “see the matrix”, & not overspend or be hooked in. Sometimes it takes an incredible amount of willpower.

There is a larger factor to point out- time spent in-app. A goal of all developers is to keep us in-app for as long as possible. Therefore, an option removing animations for card packs, and those during gameplay, can reduce the average time we have the app open.

Truly, the QOL would improve with the option to speed up/skip these areas. Think of all the in-game animations, buffing slowly one at a time, etc. Many experienced players don’t need or want the animations. We would benefit greatly from being able to turn them off. I used to love playing Koth and Jace UoS, but their ultimate ability’s buff animation... ridiculously slow.

TLDR: Time spent in-app as a factor is probably the root cause of this.
Just my 10 cents. Feel free to correct me if I’m way off course here.

I've always felt that the "reward" for getting every card from a particular set is that you should no longer have to sit through pack-opening animations for that set, packs from that set should just directly convert to orbs and runes when you get them.

What's in it for them? We don't spend more if the app slows the process.....

Forgive me, I am not a mobile-application marketing expert by any means. Perhaps I’m incorrect in my assumption that more time spent on an app will reflect better with Apple, Google, etc. User data showing more/longer engagement will increase the value of company stocks, no?

That being said, I don’t think this game is too sinful in this regard. It is one of the reasons I still play it, despite my addictive personality. I don’t actually feel pressured to overspend at all. I am 27 years old, therefore as an adult it is ultimately my choice to spend real money or not.

The comparison will soon get tiring, but Marvel puzzle quest has the option to open all your packs of a certain category with one touch. You still have some animation,  but it goes on without further manual intervention.
Applied for mtgpq it would be: Click once, and you can leave your phone for some time. When you come back, all your [mtgpq set] boosters will have been opened.
