Creature with Defender gains Vigilance [Investigating]

When a creature with Defender such as Knight of the White Orchid gain Vigilance, they stop blocking.

This doesn't make any sense.
Defender should be the overriding choice of whether a creature should block.
The choice to block which you have implemented with Vigilance should not happen if the creature has defender.

I suspect the same is also happening when a creature has reach.

I agree that this doesn’t feel right and that defender should take precedence over vigilance. In other situations with conflicting abilities, like berserker and unblockable, the “combat with creature” ability seems to apply. There’s no written rule though so we will have to see what the developers have to say about this.
