Full-artwork cards don’t count for deck completion.

While it might seem like a minor annoyance, I find it disturbing that some of our PW’s have precon decks that contain regular art VG’s. These are not available to us without risking a major waste of resources on duplicates.

What is the plan for when WAR vanguards transition into legacy? Will we ever be able to complete precon decks with alternate art cards? They are the same in all but aesthetics, but I guess it may be a complex coding issue to have two separate cards count for one slot in a deck.

Here’s a thought: vanguards should NEVER have been added to precon decks. Especially with the knowledge that alt-art cards would make a conflict.

However, good decisions for the game’s sake are often shelved in favor of money-grubbing policies.

(Don’t get me wrong, I have no ill-will toward any devs or honest hardworking employees. This is not their fault. My only target is greedy policy that does not improve the game, or especially makes it worse).

The decision to include full art cards is good, but only if we have reasonable access to crafting the regular versions (or non-dupes for rares and mythics, albeit in separate pools).
Making the regular versions risky to obtain and also an integral part of the precon decks is not ok.

As others on the forum have stated, this system is so broken that RARE VG’s are even more ridiculous to obtain.

So the game offers a bonus rewarding people for their completionist tendencies (because PW decks are not required for *anything* in the game and are more often considered a waste of space than competitive). And the game also offers a shop that allows you to buy specific powerful cards at a reasonable cost and with fancy alternate art to boot, eliminating the risky waste of resources you were complaining about (not to mention giving those completionists more stuff to collect).

The conclusion is that they are “money grubbing” because they won’t let you hold the stick at both ends?

the issue with rare vanguards is truly a problem that should be fixed (I remember trying to get Ajani from M20) but it has nothing to do with alt art.

This was confirmed in the past to be intentional.  Alt art cards count as the regular card in every possible way EXCEPT for precon deck completion.

    Good luck catching them all!

I guess it’s not really a big deal. I think it’s been grinding my gears knowing that they’ll rotate into legacy soon, yet some of them were bugged to the point of being unusable. It’s frustrating spending resources on something and not have it work. Awful when you know that it’s one less day/week/month to make use of it in Standard.

Between that and the resources I wasted on rare VG dupes, yes, I am feeling ripped-off. It’s a big part of my transition back to f2p- we’re always robbed by way of certain cards not working, so why should I risk $ on things that may not even work? I’m not being compensated for Teferi, Time Raveler being bugged twice (same bug) over two different updates, but it still cost me 400 crystals, tedious matches, not getting to use what I PAID FOR.
