I just bought my first bundle of hp and they go fast. Does anyone have advice for when in the pvp process I should buy shields? I play a2* team and can often get above 7-800 but then lose several hundred points. I tend to get the most points a day before the event ends but then I'll need to buy multiple shields to hold out till the end. Should I wait to play cost to the end of the event or just buy the shield as soon as i break 800?

  • Here's a strategy I use.

I join early, then make a modest push to 300-500. Wait about 4-8 hours for all the retaliations to shake out and then push back up to 500-600.

Wait until the last 7 hours of the event, and push as hard as I can. Then either buy an 8 hour shield or a 3 hour shield. If I buy a 3 hour shield, I make another mini-push when the shield expires and I shield for the last 3 hours.

Then right at the end of the event (if possible), make one more mini-push.

So, that's going to put you in the 850-1000 range and you will have only spent 150 HP (which you can earn back via the 900 point prog. award, a top ten finish or maybe even an alliance award if you're lucky).

The idea is that you have an equilibrium score that you will stabilize at while factoring in retaliations and such depending on your MMR. For me, it's around 700 if I don't have a maxed featured hero, 900 if I do. The goal is to shield only when past that score since you don't need the shields before that, so you should aim for grinding up to that score, then time out your pushes such that you're shielded for the rest of the tournament. Toxic has a good example of how to do that, I personally go for a single shield at the 3 hour mark.
