Server connection problems?

Is it just me or is anyone else unable to connect to the game servers? I get the "Check Internet Connection" message on the login screen but the game is connecting to my Google Play account. The power went out momentarily shortly before this happened but all my other Internet programs are connecting without any problems so I assume it is on the game server end.
P.S. if it wasn't obvious I guess I should mention I'm using an Android device.
