De-Level Poll

May sound ridiculous but there are some cases where I wish I could de-level my characters. Would you do it?

About the only reason to de-level a character is to change tile match damage.

It would make more sense to be able to have tilematch damage tweaking, which I have suggested.

    I'll repeat that suggestion here.

For each character, it should be possible to tweak the tilematch damage.

Overall, the amount of damage done should be +0, with the maximum plus being +2, and the maximum negative being -6. For example, Here are current stats for Hulk and Patch.

    11/60/12/10/67/52 -- The Hulk (Indestructible)
    52/60/12/11/67/10 -- Wolverine (Patch)

With a tile-patch tweak, the stats for Hulk and Patch could be
    13/60/14/12/67/48 -- The Hulk (Indestructible)
    54/62/12/05/69/10 -- Wolverine (Patch)

This tweak could make a lot of teams more interesting to play, and would be a relatively simple implementation.

Actually, I think it would be a more interesting and challenging change to allow the AI to select targets the same way players can. (Which would also make the original question moot.)

Would require a lot more AI coding though.
  • I kinda wish I could reduce my IM40 yellow covers from 3 to 2 (or even 1) but that's about it.
  • The mechanic wouldn't be functional in the current game.

Let's look at this scenario because it's prolly the reason this will never happen.

Right now I have Psylocke and lazy Thor both around level 100.
Psylocke has a tourney right now that will most likely be repeated within a week or 2.
Lazy Thor is obviously the better character and a better long term investment.
Hmmm. What should I do what should I do.

    Now with a de-level feature:
I pump all my ISO into Psylocke.
    Loki gets a tourney next?
Ok so I drain Psylocke and give it all to Loki.
Oh now it's another Psylocke tourney?
Let's drain Loki and give it back to Psylocke.
Oooo. NHB!! Lazy Thor take all this ISO from Psylocke now.

    You get the picture.
  • The mechanic wouldn't be functional in the current game.

I'm thinking that the de-level would return ISO at a significant loss (or, most extremely, none at all). Otherwise, the problem that you pose would be a total mess.
  • Certainly de-leveling should not be permanent, just ability to set the effective level to anything up to the max. I could even accept some small ISO fee for changing to make devs interested.

I've certainly encountered times where I've leveled a character and found that they tanked a color that I really wanted another character to tank instead. This is especially true with the button which now levels you to the current maximum. So having a way to de-level might be nice, even if all the ISO was lost. And I've added covers to a character only to later realize they were better off with fewer covers of that color. So having a way to de-cover might be nice, even if there was no payoff for losing the cover.

But of all the things the team could be spending their time on improving this would be extremely low on my list.

Could be useful at times, and certainly would not be the biggest waste of iso I have ever made.

I have never seen a game where this was a possibility or desired. if we had 2 85s and one tanked for the other and you wanted to have one drop to 83, then understandable perhaps, but I suspect the devs would look at all the other cases and just tell you level up the person you wanted to tank.

During current sim pve event is the perfect situation where I would like to be able to de-level c.storm just enough so that she could use punisher for a tank on green tiles. She hides behind mags for blue and yellow (I am assuming yellow when mags is leveled high enough, mine is not). Her wind storm packs a nice punch(and stun)with the buff, but she is just to squishy to be out front.

With c.storm at level 125 her green tile strength is 73 and punisher at level 171 his green is 72. This is one instance where being able to drop c.storm a couple levels might be worth burning a 2-3k iso, if one is struggling against the likes of falcon & thorverine.
