Rare vanguard packs vs Rare elite packs

Dear Marcela, @Oktagon_Support,

This has been discussed several times before, but after pulling another rare dupe vanguard while only having one in that particular pack, I really need to get this off my chest.

Why are the rare vanguard packs not configured to be non dupe? The players are spending high end resources (jewels) to get some new toys to play with. Pulling a dupe with these valuable resources is very bad player experience, especially if you only have one and pull a dupe (note: regarding the M20 rare vanguards, I pulled three times (!) the same Chandra in a row, talking about bad player experience). The reason why I think that it should be non dupe is that, compared with rare elite packs, rare vanguard cards can NOT be crafted currently. All cards in the rare/mythic elite packs can be crafted, so having non dupe pulls there makes sense. Also, vanguards are required for some of the events AND some of the planeswalker's decks can only be completed by obtaining specific vanguards in these preconstructed decks.

I would like to suggest to either either make (at least the rare) vanguards craftable OR change the rare vanguard packs to also be non dupe.

Also, can you give some insight IF there are already plans to make any of these suggested changes?

Thanks a lot for your time! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    Wow, I'm actually surprised by this fast and kind response. Keep up the good work! If only you can also make some changes... ;-)

    Yeah, the Vanguards sit in an odd position where the Rares are actually much more difficult to get than the Mythics.

    I'm glad Marcela is relaying this info to the devs, but if everyone can do themselves a favor and stop opening dupe packs. They collect the user data, so if you're asking for X, but your behavior shows that you are willing to do Z, then it's less effective when you ask for things to change.

    The goal is to get people to waste their pinks. Drain resources so that people are more likely to spend real money. They're all chained together. If you waste your pinks chasing cards in a dupe pack, then you're more likely to spend your crystals on Fblthp alternates to finally get that card when it shows up. And if you spend those crystals, then you'll be more likely to spend money to replenish that stock.

    So every time you spend resources on a pack with dupe possibility, you are sending a message that you are willing to waste resources on dupes.
    Your actions <----------------------------------> Your words.

    The strategy I take, which I think is rational, is when a new set of Vanguards come out, I go for Rares until I get a dupe, then I never purchase another rare pack from that set ever again.

    @Quantius
    are you saying to just never spend any crystals on the dupe-able Rare packs, or to not chase those packs and sink crystals into them?

    Yeah, don't spend on the known dupe packs (outside of the standard packs for crystals).

    I fully agree with your rationale, that's why I have hoarded quite some jewels. I normally don't spend them on packs that have a possibility to yield dupes. However, I was feeling bold at that moment and broke my own rule. I only had 1 rare vanguard and estimated odds low enough to get a dupe... but we all know how MTGPQ's RNGesus works. Another tough lesson learned and my devotion to my own rule has been invigorated.
