Permanent supports

Can we get rid of them please?

Whether in Pve or Pvp, it drags out the matches (Standard is already slow), slows the game down (in a technical way) and messes with your decks. I already have to build for objectives, prepare to deal with hexproof or the 386 different types of supports.

In last weekends event I played vs a Teferi deck who had his ultimate out. I got it down to 1 shield but then due to the permanent support it suddenly had 8 shields. I won with all objectives but it was a pain to finish. Like with Elderspark; it is simply not fun.

Special rules at times such as Enraged or Supercharged are fun to me. Please spend the time you spend on the permanent supports on bug fixes etc.

I am absolutely against getting rid of them, but the current situation where every single new event has one is bad too..

They should be _one_ tool used for flavour, not the only one.

You could also do things like each player starts with a specific creature on the board (or in hand) or a specific card in hand.
Or you could have more _non_ permanent supports... I know this was tried in the Trick or Treat event with the tokens and that case went overboard, but the basic idea was interesting still. You don't have to have them immediately replaced, you could have some other rule that triggers their creation, like a match 5 on that node.

I think the permanent supports started partly as a way to have the rules on a node readable because people weren't looking them up. But now there are PvE events where you have flavour text and pictures popping up at the start of a game, no reason that couldn't be used for node rules occasionally.

Note: Anything that gets done for EVERY event will get annoying and stale and boring. They can be spread around. Oh, and not all flavour needs to be within the matching even, there could be specific deck making rules for some nodes sometimes, not just "point giving requirements" but things like enforced pauper where a deck with mythics is simply not playable. (And the reason is given very obviously of course!), but you could all kinds of other deck restriction rules too.

Just lots and lots of variety!

Agree with Kinesia. They need to stay, for sure. But they are a bit overused. That said, I do appreciate the cleverness of how they change color every time. That was a neat idea in its time, and I’m glad this feature has largely been without bugs since it’s rocky start.

To clarify; now in Fblthp event the permanent support is simple and clear (gain loyalty). I'm very much ok with those, or the ones in Journey Through History, in moderation.

The changing colors on match was a brilliant solution indeed. But the supports with a whole book written on them and which are very intrusive (ie RaW, ES); yuk.

The concept of permanent supports IS generally fun and they are even more interesting when they echo with the objectives of the nodes (like Cotc events).

I like when they trigger small effects that will change gameplay without breaking the match in a way or another.
On the contrary, i really dislike the RaW style supports, because they can arbitrary ruin a game or a secundary.

Their final effect isnt reliable enough to build around them ... but it is powerful enough to ruin your plans, (especially the white one that spaws a legion of Angels when you try to avoid ending the game too Quick.)

Tuns out a lot of people agree with you!  And a lot don't as well.
    Its an odd issue.
