For those who don't know him, Supporticus was a soldier who lived in ancient Roman times and became a legendary MPQ player through the effective use of supports. Channeling my inner Supporticus, I decided to start looking at some key teams and talking through the best support setups for each. My answer may be different than yours, because of the coverage or level of my characters, the star ranking and level of my supports, my play style, or just in general because...we see the world differently! Diversity is a wonderful thing. I welcome opposing views but hope by simply starting this thread, others will think and share and we will all learn and grow in our MPQ experience. Enough with the pontificating...on to battle!
The core team:
Center: 4 * Juggernaut 5/5/3 lvl 274
Left: 4* Rocket & Groot 5/5/3 lvl 296
Right: 5* Kitty Pryde 1/1/2 lvl 295
This is a great team, in no small part because Juggy has the X-Men tag which lowers the threshold on Kitty's "Phase and Conquer". This team has two objectives: we want Juggy to tank to trigger "Collateral" to cause damage to the entire enemy team, and we want to protect and grow those strike tiles so the Collateral damage is maximized.
Supports:
First a word: I have every support in the game except I have none of the infinity stones. All of the supports are at the max level based on the star version I have except where indicated.
In thinking of supports, I looked at a few options:
1) Increase the number of colors that Juggy tanks, increasing the odds of triggering Collateral each turn
2) Find a support that adds more strike tiles
3) Find a support that boosts strike tiles
4) Find a support that fortifies strike tiles
In looking this over, I ended up effectively ruling out option 2, because given the length of battles and the cap on the number of strike tiles Kitty can boost, I found it more effective to have fewer but higher value strikes. Plus in looking over the supports, the chances of adding more strikes was extremely low compared with the chance of fortifying or boosting them.
I also ruled out supports that were geared around firing powers. This team is all about match damage + passive damage. Firing powers will happen once in a while, but not often enough to justify selecting a support around it.
Fortifying tiles becomes more important in battles vs tile movers. There's more of a chance they will match your strikes away (Or put you in a position where you have to). So fortifying them is key. For this reason, I went with 2 different builds:
Against tile movers:
Level 150 Hydra Henchmen on Juggy: 33.57% chance to fortify special on start of turn
Level 150 Chimichanga on Rocket: 34.74% chance to fortify special on start of turn
Level 150 Destroyer Gun on Kitty: 27.15% chance to fortify special on start of turn
Add those up, and there's a 68.4% chance that at least one strike gets fortified each turn. That's pretty good protection.
Against non-tile movers:
Level 150 Black Widow's Batons on Juggy: +247 to Juggy's purple, making him tank it over Kitty
Level 150 Chimichanga on Rocket: 34.74% chance to fortify special on start of turn
Level 200 Chewie on Kitty: 46.37% chance to create strength 369 attack tile when Kitty makes a match, + 15.79% chance to remove an enemy special when Kitty fires a power
I liked having the option to make a Kitty match here and there that would add a single attack tile to complement the strike tiles. Plus I've had more than one battle where firing Kitty's Red or Yellow power removed an enemy countdown tiles (since I don't have her covered to the point where she does that on her own). I generally avoid firing Yellow, as she then starts buffing protect tiles which I'll never need as long as she keeps buffing the strike tiles.
Curious to see how others have been using supports on this team, and if folks find the discussion helpful, I'll put together some other teams of interest in the future.
In the words of Supporticus: are you not entertained?

Lv 100 Chewie for Kitty
Lv 150 Milano for R4g
Lv 250 Pocket Radio for 4Jugg1 -
Been using this team for a while now. Same ideas mostly.
Lvl 150 Chewie on Kitty
Lvl 200 Vibranium Ore on Rocket
Lvl 150 Hydra on Juggs
I love the vibranium ore option on rocket, because it doesnt matter who on my team makes the match 4... Im getting that protect tile. I know, protects suck compared to strikes and attacks. But sometimes, youre missing a tile to keep up Kitty's boosting, or a juicy match 4 will kill one of your other tiles. At least you can replace and keep the boosting going. Not to mention the extra yellow AP chance per yellow match to allow me to put more out if needed.0 -
See I saw this and automatically thought of:

I use the Milano on Grocket, mostly for the extra hit from the Countdown. I honestly kind of wish I hadn't leveled this one up, because the boost to their green damage sometimes has them tanking more than I'd prefer. Element Blasters on Kitty to Fortify tiles. Because that one's level 4, I'm pretty sure it's my best option there. Juggernaut has Ebony Maw, which is actually primarily to boost his black match damage so he tanks everything but yellow when using him with Grockamora on easy nodes, but it also brings his black above Kitty here, and it occasionally kicks out an Attack tile for an extra dip on the Strikes.0

And here I was thinking this would be about a new support for Black Bolt.

Great thread idea. I lifted my support idea from someone else on the forum who was nice enough to share, at least for Kitty and Grocket. My Kitty has a rank 4 level 200 Stark Tower.
Grocket has a tank 4 level 200 Chimichanga.
Main focus is fortifying strikes, but some nice bonuses there like free yellow, red, and purple AP and extra match damage.
Juggs has a rank 3 level 114 Corvus Glave... extra damage on Purple for tanking over Kitty, fortifying tiles with additional damage bonus, and a health boost.
Hela has a rank 4 level 200 Cull Obsidian for a chance at some free green AP, dropping a protect tile occasionally, health boost, and increased green match damage.
For Cap Mar5el I use a rank 4 level 200 Shuri’s Lab for a chance at free red AP, fortifying her repeaters, and Green and Red damage boosts.
Iceman has a rank 3 level 150 Carol’s Communicator for protect tiles and it’s main use healing Bobby when his blue tiles get matched.
I have more I’ll add later. I welcome suggestions for improvements on any I am currently using.0 -

Her match damage is 695 while Juggs' is 81 with Corvus Glaive before the 225% boost. I'm not even sure he tanks over her even in the original scenario (Juggs lvl 274, Kitty lvl 295)The other perks should be useful.
So...probably not going to happen. I’m not sure I have any support to make up the difference though.0 -
250 Chimichanga for Kitty (50% chance to fortify a friendly tile at the start of a turn)
150 Milano for RnG
150 Blackbird for Juggs1 -
150 Ebony Maw for Juggs (for same reasons as TPF Alexis) so he tanks all but Yellow.150 Carols Communicator for RnG (45% chance of 2 Str 600 protect tiles + 43% chance for true heal when matching your own specials makes this a superb item)150 Royal Talon Fighter for Gamora (for the 15% chance to deal 1200 team damage when she fires a power)My Kitty isn't usable yet or at least she's no where close to the above team for PvE (I can do 4 clears in CL7 in 22 minutes which always puts me in the top 5 times for speed). If she was, I'd probably move Carols Communicator to her and then put a different support on Rocket.KGB0

Thanks for all the posts and feedback. Since my Kitty is an unchamped baby (level 295), my Juggy tanks 5 out of 7 right out of the box, and I have level 150 Black Widow's Batons which would make him tank Purple over Kitty, taking him to 6 out of 7. Clearly from these responses if/when I ever champ Kitty my support strategy may change, as he might lose some other colors to Kitty. In that case I might start to look at color boosting as an alternative, or perhaps it will be out of the question if her match damage is too high.0
