Invasion where the sun don't shine in pvp krakadoom

Long story short I was rank 5 with over 900 shielded (reckless442 above me of course but usually in the same bracket as walkyourpath) anyways I see an opening. Haven't been attacked for hours and thought I'd shoot for 1000 then shield up for 8 hours. Bad move... Dropped my shield and started a match. Came out 100 down. Now what are the #&*$ chances? Is it possible the game prioritizes your **** if your shield drops? Anyways I'm not wasting anymore hp shielding up. Don't need psylocke anyways.

Well of course you aren't attacked for hours, a shield removes you from the match making queue.

That said, it does seem like you get attacked more after dropping a shield than if you were just chilling normally, but there's no way to actually test it

    Same.
I thought it was like this, but I was wrong.
Waiting for 3hrs shield to expire, and after 2battles i got hit. Same as when unshielding on purpose.

2battles, cos I run Hulk + Patch, so it takes time to kill it.

Guys, if You really need to shield jump, use boosts!

That can't be right. If I'm removed from matchmaking how do I win battles while I'm shielded -_- also why am I fighting guys who aren't even in my bracket? I was number one in freshcut with 820 and I'm fighting a guy with over 600pts total when the guy below me has 500...
  • Krakadoom was just a brutal tournament in general. I entered late due to work issues and tried a late push for the top 20. I pushed to over 800 points which was enough for 35th. Considered shielding, but thought I'd try a couple more matches. My next match went horrible due to a horrific cascade, and I lost 27 points. Was about to try another match when the message popped up that I'd been attacked, 3 times, for a total loss or around 90 points. 117 points or so lost in around 2 minutes. Gave up and ended up around 80th. I've not been hit that hard and that fast in a tournament before, even near the end. Normally a 141 Thor and 141 cMags is enough to put a few people off but because S1 was ending I think everyone unshielded was fair game.

You might be removed from matchmaking when you're shielded but you're not removed from the battle queue if people already have you there. That's why you might find you're attacked a handful of times even though you're shielded.

As for fighting guys who aren't in your bracket, that's they way it's always been. Matchmaking is global, so it's very common (in fact, it's pretty much standard) to fight guys who aren't in your bracket.

It removes you as new offer. Whoever already has you in queue and not skip can play on.

Spot on Emeryt! Also, unless you have a speed team, don't get greedy and try for too many matches. Nowadays, I typically only try for one match, maybe two if I beat the first one really quickly because I run OBW/Ares and don't have the firepower. Better to come out of a shield hop with +20/30 versus -20/30+.
  • In general I find the shields to be a waste of good HP.

I generally fight, no boosts, until I start getting attacked. This will start a give and take but eventually I will hit equilibrium and that is usually where I will end up.

Once I hit that point I just wait it out. I may hit with my best team or do a quick kamikaze at the end for a few extra points. I will end up anywhere between the top 50 to the top 150. Not the greatest but with no 3*'s completely levelled or even the possibility of levelling them it's the best I can do. However, it's also free.

Shielding seems like a great way to nickel and dime your HP away.

75/150 hp is much cheaper for the top 50 cover than 1250 if you bought it outright. Same goes for the top 10 cover if you are able to get close (I get close often with my 2* team). If you are constantly worse than 50, you will never get 3* covers so there is nothing else to spend your HP on...
