For those of you leaving

Will you be writing a honest review of the state of the game on the various App marketplaces? To me, making threads about the issues is cathartic and a valid way to get your point across. However, it seems to have cause zero feedback from the decision makers here.

We can have our polls and threads breaking down our grievances, but at some point if you are dissatisfied with a level of service, it makes sense to make it more publicly known than this forum.

I'm genuinely curious to know.

No, for several reasons (no order of importance):

    - I do not like leaving reviews on google play, because my real name appears, and I do not like this behaviour

    - When I express my issues about the game, I want to tell it first to the devs, and second to the other players having the same issues (or not), in order to share our visions of the game. But I never thought of telling these issues to other people who do not know the game. I do not see the point.

    - I think this forum is a better place to express our views than a marketplace

    - I do not want to disguss potential new players. I do not want the game to fail only because some of us do not agree with the devs' view. This forum is here to remember me that some players like the game as it is now. So I want new players to try the game without anything bad in mind, and make their own point on this game. They deserves the right to like it for a few weeks/months, just like us. icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • I agree with most of the comments above.

Although, I will leave a review if I leave. It will probabaly be 2 stars. It will start by saying the game is fun, then go over my opinion of how the game becomes an extremely slow progression that cannot keep up with new content without money. At this point I've expressed it to the devs, I've discussed it with the players, and if everything remains the same I will post it for the public. All that being said I haven't gotten this hooked on a game in quite some time., and I would love it if they create an experience that i felt that my time was being wasted in progress over frustration.

I do think reviews matter. After playing MPQ and looking at other games, I read the reviews.

I can easily see how other games are having the same problems as this one and based on the reviews, I avoid them.

So reviews can be a powerful thing. I am sure if MPQ's rating was 1 star we would be hearing a vastly different tune from D3/Demiurge.

And for those of you that are leaving.....Can I have your stuff?

IIRC, they've already said they don't care about appstore reviews

Yes. But they would if enough bad reviews kept people from downloading the game. Less downloads = less money (perceived because I read somewhere that people typically spend more in the first 5-7 days)
  • i already did at the time they dumped nerfs in the middle of several ongoing events and invented a pack of odd changes (what seem like really small stuff compared to what happened since especially recently).

That kind of option is not there to pick.

As long as people stand in long queues to buy the nerfed gold tokens in big packs why would they care really? The bad reviews are up for months.
  • IceIX has stated he does not care if you leave negative reviews and it will have no effect on how this game is developed...This is his exact quote...

"If it makes you feel better, feel free. I'll state that it's not very effective as a tool for enacting change though. We look far far more at what people are saying on forums or social media than knee jerk 1 stars that come out of a Patch, which happens every time to every game no matter what it is."

  • Companies don't care about a bad review on the app store. They only care about ENOUGH bad reviews on the app store. More clearly...enough that it considerably lowers star ratings, lowering new players. Even then, there are much easier ways to get those players back and/or increase thier stars than to give in to what amounts to review terrorism (because, this game is not a 1-2** game. It's 3-5. A bunch of "I don't like the direction" 3/5 reviews aren't going to change much as all companies need is a 4/5 to look good. As such, ppl.giving 1-2 star ratings are generally giving lower than they think in order to elicit a response....terrorism. that isnt to say a low rating is unjust or not the rate rating for some ppl...just not for a lot of the ppl who give such reviews).

Now, if I was writing the review for say...ign...then it would be different and the review itself would matter as top review sites can actually make a difference. If I had the wherewithal to.create my.own review site and cared to drop dollars to keep it running then I would probably do a "six months later" on iap games. I don't know how different my review would be between the two, but it would certainly give credence to the line of thought that the game has moved towards being More p2w than before (where my initial review would have lauded the fact that you could play without paying, which made you more willing to spend as opposed to just remove the app from your phone). Maybe a 9.0-9.5 when I first started and a 8.0-8.5 now?
hThis is still a good game. It's just, its being monetized more and more and that directly affects hiw fun the game is.

When I first started, pve was something you did as you wanted. With work you got a good score. Now I skip starting the event "on time" and spend more.time actively NOT playing than actually playing. same with PvP. New characters felt fresh. It necessarily amazing, but fresh. Rag was a stain on the game..but for a while I only saw him in lr as I wasn't a top player and so I was able to avoid seeing him on normal events. I wasn't yet jaded by 4**** and I didn't feel obligated to use shields (did.t exist yet) to compete. A lot has changed, and so would a review over that time.
hy big review sites don't do that, I am not sure (well, most phone apps are probably on the decline by months 3, so that is probably why...that and not getting paid to do a second review......lol...)
  • I agree with the guy above more than I agreed with my post.
  • I wonder how effective these forums are at driving up/down the number of new players. For the last while, there have been a number of critical threads on the front page of the general forum, and I'd think that might be a turn-off to a potential new player who decided to look up the official forums. Are the devs trying to push traffic to these forums on social media and whatnot? If so, their lack of engagement would seem to be an extra-poor decision; if not, I guess these forums are just a pitchfork storage closet.
  • App store reviews are mostly worthless anyway. Too many companies pad their reviews to make them a useful source.

Does anybody get the feeling that they listen to members of this forum or on any social media? Apart from announcing event what exactly do they use Facebook for?

I already left my review on the Play store, I was honest and gave it 2 stars as it was a fun game but recent changes now make it feel like a chore. I am not leaving the game, but with it being better to join events late and use shields there are actually legitimate reasons to play less and less. Also my wife has given me a project to do in my spare time that will keep me away from wifi spots for the next month or two.

I find the whole quote distasteful. But the bolded bit is interesting. Do MPQ have a twitter account?

That's a good point and got me thinking. Can we ask IGN to re-review this game, given how much it has changed since IGN first reviewed it?

Marvel Heroes did it, can't remember if it was IGN though. I think we should ask them. Definitely.

Said it the other day and will say it again here. This forum serves less that 1% of the users. Complaining here is not enough. Spam the twitter accounts of the individual staff members. Spam their Facebook. Buy a bunch of "you suck" post cards and mail them to their HQs. Find a creative approach. Send them flowers with your complaints on the lil card. Get their attention because they certainly are not reading or contributing to this forum. But I also think it's Demiurge I think you need to get at not D3.
  • I already reviewed the game on Steam with a positive tint after a while I started it. Most of the top voted reviews were negative at that time then. Not sure how it is now.

Thanks for the reminder, this thread made me leave a review on Steam. Complaining here is really an effort in futility, everyone who reads the criticisms already knows about the complaints or doesn't care. It's the new players who have to be warned. And if negative reviews affect their rate of new players, then maybe D3 will finally stop and think about what the **** they think they are doing.

Those of us leaving a review on Steam: Maybe we should upvote each other's reviews so that people actually get to see them. The currently displayed ones are all negative too, but they are on liners from people with 1h playtime who just hate F2P in general. Those aren't worth much.

Sending free covers to Facebook friends bypasses much of the negative feedback you look to put out.

Nothing like a freebie to get a download.
