The card offers rotate like this:

Fblthp Event 1: Card A (alternate art) is available for purchase as soon as you join the event
Card B (alternate art) is available for purchase once you complete the secondary objectives (three times?)

Fblthp 2: Card B is available for purchase as soon as you join the event
Card C is available as soon as you complete the objectives (3x?)

Fblthp 3: Card C is available as soon as you join the envent
Card D is available as soon as you complete the objectives

And so on and so on. So if you haven't missed any Fblthp events and buy everything each time, there will only be 1 new card available each time.

But you won't see an offer if you already bought it the previous week, so, for example, when I bought Sorin after unlocking him in one event, there was only one planeswalker available the next time (not a mythic).

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what rarities of Vanguards are on offer, either, except that in a given week it's never been (so far) the same rarity for both cards. So if A is a mythic, B won't be a mythic...but C might be a mythic. Some weeks there is no mythic.

Having or not having the "regular art" version of any card should make no difference whatsoever. I've bought cards I had and ones I didn't.

Thanks, @Stormcrow I think that just about explains it all.

I'm not sure what else there is to say apart from just reminding people to complete both secondary objectives and you should get everything Flipper has to offer you each week.

The name of this thread should be duped again, Vanguard scam. Every time I think that d3/ oktagon has learned the lessons of the past nonsense like this creeps back. We can’t let it. If I’m using Pinks I better not get a dupe EVER.

My last 2 mythic packs we're dupes... Which is crazy because I only have 4/12.. 900 pinks for 1 new card is disheartening to say the least.

I dont usually rant but I have to add my voice to this complaint.  Saving up pinks for a couple months only to get a copy of Ugin, the card they gave away for free, is demoralizing. I'm having a maybe I should just give up moment. And the consolation, 500 runes for the dupe, is depressing.

If the economy won't support a no dupes solution, perhaps you could reroll for a small charge, or they could at least give you enough runes for a rare from the set.

They really messed up with Vanguards, most of them are barely playable.  I bought a few early on, then with fblthp, it makes sense to just buy the alt version of the 2-3 you might want and ignore the rest.  Crystals are more common than pinks, and you get the exact card you want for the same number of crystals.  Why would you ever gamble with the pinks then?

Also, because they built up the expectation that elite pink packs would NOT have duplicates and they _changed_ it to that way out of an outcry. They admitted that their old stance was wrong and they set up new customer expectations that they wouldn't do that.
Nothing was labelled as dupe or not dupe, so we _only_ had our expectations that they had set up to go on.

    So....

Since customer expectations are actually legally binding (unfortunately the customers have to take them to court to enforce that) they committed international fraud by allowing dupes in them.

Vanguard packs are not elite packs. No misleading there as to what kind of pack they were. While I do understand that we (myself included) assumed that there would be no duping because jewels were involved. They still did not break any promises or stances. Elite vs Vanguard. Statements made for Elite packs should not be held against them in regards to another separate kind of pack.

if customer expectations were binding... then why not take them to court when you have opened 15 premium packs and only received 1 mythic? or perhaps take them to court because you lost to an exclusive that you have to buy and it cost you jewels and ranking? or perhaps you should take them to court because expectations were not met because they did not release the set within the same time frame as paper sets?

That is a very slippery slope my friend and one I think holds no water imho. sorry.

have to admit i think you are right on that one, wasn't ever labeled that i know of as being non dupe, the fact it uses pinkies you thought it should be. That is what they hoped while not saying they were dupe able

Nothing was labelled as non-dupe before. They changed it in the last patch to start obeying European and Australian labelling laws better.

And I disagree about the Vanguard vs Elite argument, because _everyone_ was surprised and disappointed when they ended up having dupes. The expectation _was_ there.

The other things you mention, opening heaps of packs and getting no mythics, how probability works is understood and _someone_ is going to be on the low end of the bell curve. Release times we DON'T have expectations of, it's only this one specific thing and it's only because they tacitly admitted the old system was morally wrong by changing elite packs to non-dupe.

But sure! None of us have the money to start a court case for a game. (None that I know of!) And very few would care to put the time in either. It doesn't make what I'm saying wrong, it's just not very useful!

But now things are properly labelled which is safer for both us and the company for the future.

I knew that a dupe was possible. I didn't realize how upsetting it would be to get one. Saying to yourself "there's a small chance that I've wasted my time" before you spin the wheel is a far cry from "Ugh, I just wasted so much time".  I think perhaps the developers metrics can't see the drop in morale associated with the cold statistical results. It must have happened to what... at least 15% of the player base?

@Gunmix25 is correct that we only communicated non-duplicate packs for the Mythic+ Elite Packs specifically.

    However
, with that being said, our team understands the potential frustration / confusion between the two packs, and we are already looking into seeing how we can improve the Vanguard Packs moving forward, so that players have a better experience opening them.
Same procedure like everytime. D3 jumped on rails when the train already left.

Vangards are a problem since month. You will fix this problem but create a new one that will cause cash flow somehow.

Sit tight, peeps. Planeswalker sale coming next week.... a crystal sink like that usually means they want to drain our resources before a new set drops, and when the new set DOES drop it's entirely possible the way that Vanguards are made available will change.
I agree 100% with you.  I've been storing every single WAR booster in hope that vanguards will be released into the wild. Not sure if they will... but still hopeful

My expectation is now set that
    1. Vanguards are pretty mediocre.
    2. I should wait for the crystal buys for specific Vanguards...  My buddy Phil will let me chose just what I want...

yep really only way i get the vanguards are through philip but i still use it as the way to get my free legacy non dupe booster pack the vans have never seemed to me to be worth the effort really expensive and realistically only use one or 2 max per deck
