New promo cards?!?

I stumbled upon the promo set (the one with “Thopter Pie Network”) and saw there are two half baked promo cards in the set that I haven’t heard about.

The cards are called “Wrenn and six”(R/G) and “Serra the Benevolent”(W) at this time. They are both listed as Vanguard support with 4 shields, both are missing a description and their cost is 2 mana. Weirdly both are categorised as “Plains”.

Have anyone heard about these promos?
Vanguard lands seems like a new thing or is that a thing in paper?

Both Serra and Wrenn and Six are planeswalkers from Modern Horizons set. Looks like we're getting them as our first non-WAR Vanguards at some point.

That Plains thing seems just like an error (though Vrenn and Six likes lands).

We occasionally get special Un-set cards as a free gift.  So far there have been 3.

Wrenn and Six and Serra aren't from Un-sets, so either they will be moved to a different category when released or they are a new type of promos for us to get

Sarkhan3, Tamiyo, and Ugin are PWs from that same Un-set.

Uhh no?  Brokhan is from one of the Tarkir sets (can't remember which one), Tamiyo is from EMN, and Ugin is from Fate Reforged (also a Tarkir set, but I remember that one)

The Un-Sets are Unglued, Unsealed, and Unstable and are the Silver-Bordered sets of joke cards (that are still officially printed by WOTC)

Boy am I bummed that Serra, an actually cool PW, got the vanguard treatment while Phblthp got the full PW treatment. I would've much preferred the opposite.

Except that the joke cards we have been getting are actually cards WotC gives to employees and stores as a Christmas present. They were never included in any of the Un-sets.

I believe Ampersand was thinking of Un-sets in MtGPQ as “cards that are not part of a set in the game”.

Sarkhan Unbroken was printed in Dragons of Tarkir. Tamiyo was in Eldritch Moon.

Oh, really?  Huh, I always assumed they were Un cards.  My bad.

Although if we're going with stuff from sets not made in MTGPQ then we would also have to include Koth, Elspeth, Sarkhan 1, Garruk, and Tezz 1 (maybe 1 more I'm missing?)

Correct, I was only referring to their MTGPQ set allocation. if you go to the PWs section, sort by the WotC symbol (which has been used for the MTGPG non-set cards such as the holiday give aways) those are the three PWs that show up. I should have clarified that I meant PQ, not Unglued etc.
