This is a weird one, that's been happening a lot since 3.6

When I try and drag gem B2 on the gem board (Top left... one in, one down) for my move, instead I drag the overlay (i.e. my hand).

I had that a few hours ago. I had to make the match with the gem just to the right of B2 (I guess that is C2).

Indeed, please fix this, it's beyond frustrating.

I can not yet retrace when this happens - but it happens from time to time on my new 8.1 Android Tablet:

When trying to connect gems instead the Cards Space of my PW or my opponents PW gets opened.
Worst case: even when trying to select a gem in the second column near the bottom row and move it to the left - then the opponents Card Space is pulled open.

I think it's happening to me when I try to slide a gem in the second column into the third column.  The work-around has been to slide in the opposite direction, from the third column to the second one.

For me the work around does not work: Either my hand is opened or the one of my opponent, depending if you drag to the right or left.

Also it is not connected to one gem, but the complete area of gems.

The issue is most probably created after I had my hand opened and then closed again. The active area of the hand is not closed, while the visuals are correctly closing.
