MisanOne, Roster Advice?

I would like to get some feedback on my roster. At the moment im saving ISO in hopes that I pick up more 3* covers. Using the guides others have written I can place respectably in tournaments. Any advice would be appreciated.

You're doing pretty well, and it's just going to be slow if you want to play for free; I've spent some money, but none on leveling characters.

1. Stop leveling 1*, 4*, Moonstone, and Hawkeye characters. It'll be wasted ISO you want back later.
2. Be patient. You will get covers, so just get a strong 2* team (Thor, OBW, Ares) and play with that until you get 3*'s.
3. Always be a part of an active alliance.
4. Focus on one character at a time to level up. If you spread around the ISO, then you have a bunch of easy to beat characters instead of a couple really strong ones.

I've been playing for 196 days and have:
141 GSBW, 128 Spidey, 128 Punisher, 105 Doom, 90 Hulk, 85 Thor, and 15 more above 40

So it's very doable and you're on the right track. Good luck!

You may want to reconsider her at 3/5/5. The difference in 7 vs 8 AP may be insignificant considering most matches are made in threes. But at the same time, you also steal black and get to level her to max 85, hence more health points.

I'm on day 48 and our rosters are nearly identical.. I have Thor and obw as my main 2 with my obw lvl 77 same spec and my Thor 85, but 3/5/5 (which I recommend you doing asap) and I have c.storm at 69 instead of daken. And even my ares is same lvl lol i have pretty much every 2* fully covered just don't really see a point in leveling them atm.. The main difference between our progression is I only maxed ironman and storm 1*s so i have 110k ISO saved atm.

So the best advise I can give you is the same I'm following and I'm pretty sure you will be given by others. Just be patient and save ISO and covers. I will continue to save untill I either have enough covers to bring a useful 3* past 100 or there is a Pve/pvp were my current go tos are not useable and pumping another 2 will help me place for a useful prize. Other than that there really isn't much reason to lvl anyone else imo. There are some small benefits like having a variety or using less health packs, but you have obw lvled so health packs aren't really an issue any more. And in the case of ares you will have ares/Thor as a defensive team which can get you attacked less.. Either way I don't see it being worth spending 80+k ISO unless necessary. Once season is over I'm hoping it should be easier to place and get 3* covers. At least I hope..

I was pretty surprised I placed in the Krakadoom top 50.. Made the 1st day push to 816 and shielded the rest of the event.
Wondering if there's a character I could safely sell to add Psylock to my roster.. maybe i'll just buy another slot.
Working towards earning more of her covers in Season 2 although i'm not sure how useful she is.

you can get rid of Chawk, the only reason to keep him is deal with countdown tiles....and considering you have more than enough characters that do that anyways he just seems redundant. Moonstone can be useful in Dark Avengers and Women only tourneys or when she's powered up(like the current PVE), to reiterate previous comments, be patient, save your iso, don't get too frustrated, 3 star heroes don't become viable 2 star replacements until they're 100+ so it'll be a while.

PS. Thank god you're avoiding bagman like the plague

PPS. if you have to sell to make roster space, sell Chawks, and possibly your 1 stars(save for Mstorm)

I tend to collect characters in case they're buffed in an event. If more roster spaces are needed I either save or buy the HP for the slot.
At this point i'm just saving ISO and trying to win 3* covers. Once I have enough covers to make them viable i'll put ISO into them.
Was happy to place and win Psylock and Daken in the previous events. Picked up the 2nd Daken cover from a pack.

Hoping to add IM40, Psylock (grey) and Lazy Daken (blue) from the Season 2 progression.
I don't know about the IM40 (yellow) from the Heavy Metal event.. never hit 1100 before in a short event. I keep getting paired against 141's

Got some decent 3* covers from standard tokens. Thinking of pumping the rest of my ISO into tokens and just seeing what I get now.
Sold full cover Mhawk and Awolvie since they weren't leveled and I never use them.. needed slots for 3*'s.
Contemplating selling off another character to add IM40 into my roster. Dunno how good he is and it doesn't seem like I would use him.

Between lightening rounds and the season 2 events I don't feel that ISO is all that difficult to obtain.. That and I grind like crazy.
I don't have an alliance that places high enough to get me many 3*'s and the standard tokens have at least gotten me some.
From standard tokens i've gotten IW, HT, C.Mag, Psylock, Patch & Lazy thor.
I know the value isn't truly there but.. it seems to work.. kinda.

Is there a more reliable method to obtaining 3*s as an essentially solo player?

no. it's just gambling and the odds aren't in your favor. so just have to be lucky!

Yes. It is VERY long. I've passed the time building up the viable 2*s and playing with them, it has given me some enjoyment. Also, at some point you will hit MMR hell where your team will just be pummeled by 141s. It is an inevitability, and will make you sad.

Yes. It took me 100+ days of playing before I even had one (barely) viable 3* character. It was easier back then as lightning rounds handed out covers more frequently and there were less 3* characters diluting the pool.

Roster updated. Yeah, i'm at the point where if I do well enough in any tournament I start getting paired against 141's. I primarily stick to Thor/OWB/Daken as my main team, with that I can win against a 141/85/85. Anything higher than that at this point and I just start skipping cuz it rarely ends well for me.

I'd level up Ares while you wait for 3* covers. Ares + OBW will likely get you higher PVP scores than Thor + OBW, because Ares is notably scarier on defense.

I've thought about maxing Ares out. I'll admit I often skip Area/OBW teams because the outcome is less predictable on offense.

Generally how i've been playing is to get to ~500 on the first day of a PVP event. I then make the push within the last 24 hours to the 800-900ish range and just shield (if the prize is a cover i want or need). Doing this usually earns me a 3* cover.. now made easier by 3*'s being offered to the top 100 of a bracket.
I usually finish top 50.

I haven't updated this in months. It's interesting to see the progression i've made. I Still play daily and place respectably when the rewards are worth it.

Update. No 4* are ready for competitive use. X-Force could go to 209 but with his current covers his effectiveness wouldn't make any scaling increase worth it.
Current scaling leaves me with pve fights in the 100/173/261 range (not exceptionally bad, i've seen complaints of worse on the high end).
Current 3* usage tends to be variations of LCap/Hulk/LThor/Hood/Patch/Sentry.
