How to beat high level maggia and hammer w/o spidey?

OBW, Storm (either), cMag, Cap (either), Falcon, Pun,Hulk, MN Mags, GSBW. They can all clear tiles directly or by board shakeup abilities, and I'm sure I missed some.
Stop being dependent on one character, it's why he got nerfed in the first place.0 -
A 2* solution: if it's just PVE, you can pick OBW and 2* Mag. Mag to generate blues, OBW to extend the timer on those CD. You can add classic storm in there to reconfig the board when needed.
There are many ways depending on your rooster0 -

And that my friends is what they call, good advice wrapped in an F-U sandwich.0 -

I'm sorry. Was that a bit too...snarky??
OH YEA, YOU CAN USE BAGMAN TOO!0 -
Is it safe to say that with access to 3* characters like that you have others on your bench? If you do, I found that in the main story missions that have Maggia Muscles in particular is to bring Patch, Loki, and Hood. Keep matching away blue Machine gun tiles and let them get off a couple of threatens. Then you can patch green them, then loki those enemy tiles.
I got to that branching mission with the two muscles, died, then took this team along and what a difference it made! Barely even got touched.0 -

Downside is now your PVE MMR goes up because you barely got touched. The true art lies in taking about 30% damage.0 -
Any CD mission can be beat by m.Storm+Bag-Man.0

Did you maxed your loki? I have loki but vs those 370 opponents, I think loki converted protect tiles can't help much too...0 -
C.Hawkeye is good for taking out countdown tiles. Prioritize matching red and purple to feed his abilities. And wait as long as possible before using abilities to clear tiles. This increases the odds that you can clear multiple countdowns with a single arrow stab. Or use an aimed crit tile to match two countdowns that are next to each other. In a pinch, you can also use crit tiles to form a match-4 to clear an entire line.
Together with M.Storm he can usually take down any goon team without taking a single hit unless the board is exceptionally bad. But bear in mind that hailstorm's attack tiles will block Hawkeye's crit tiles. I like to save up black AP until I have enough to cast 3 times in a row. That floods the whole board and blocks the goons from placing their own special tiles.0 -
I use hood and obw. Keep upping the count down tiles and hit them with the big guns you take in with them0

Mine is actually not maxed. Just cover maxed, which helps to get his abilities off quicker.0 -
Control Shift is pretty much the bane of way overpowered goon CDs. Yes it takes 17 black but the goons have incredible amount of HPs and usually more than enough time for you to get it. Even when you have a complete control of the board, stealing 2000 worth of strike tiles makes whittling down their 15K+ HP much faster.0

I wish I had your kind of MPQ problems!
But yeah, it's hard to find a comp that doesn't kill goons efficiently.
Some of my favourite teams include:
any team with cMagneto on it
any team with oBW on it
any team with mStorm on it
any team with lazyCap on it (Cap** works but he's worse at damage)
Hood/cStorm/MMN - tons of AP and Wind Storming to no end
Hood/oBW/Punisher - match the CDs, blow them up or delay to your liking
cHawkeye dominates CD tiles
Bag-Man could help if he's all you got
Specific goonies:
Thor and Hulk are great in removing green CDs, although Thor is better
Loki against Muscles/Commanders as mentioned0 -
For maggia and limited roster combo I used IM40: you must pick the yellows really fast so give it to IM to covert to red/blue/green. Then use those colors with other available heroes to kill or stun or overwrite tiles, I'm sure more than half of the existing characters can do one of those sitting on abundant amount of AP.
Including fine *s like mstorm and MBW you can create from zero in a few hours playing shield sim. Or Hawkie. From **s buffed Ares is beast, cstorm and Cap Wolvie proved himself. OBW buys you time. Even Bagman works. I leave ***s as exercise.0 -
Wow, lots of great ideas. thanks. Ah I sold my c hawkeye, looks like I need to collect again...0
-
For those using cHawkeye against Maggia, is this just a level 1 hawkeye? I kept him around because he was buffed last time, but do not want to put any iso into him. Is it worth leveling a bit? I think mine is 4/4 or something like that.0

i don't have a workable spidey, only have 0/1/5. purple. strong defensive tile. pfft.
but for goons, my fav is OBW.. blue extends CD (and heal if yours is at level 5)
espionage attacks the second time.
just need to make sure that you feed her with enough blue, as not many goons auto-generate blue tiles for your recon to be a viable blue generator.0 -
The Maggia are absolutely god awful. Their powers all have super low costs, the majority of the countdown tiles are far too short, and they always do more damage than they should. The fact that they can easily put out multiple tiles in a single turn is so frustrating. And then you end up on boards with 2 - 4 countdown tiles all ending on the same turn, and there's nothing you can do about them.
I've been using OBW and recently added in MN Mags for the Sentry Event, but it's like the game makes sure I get boards where there's nothing I can do or I can't get the tiles I need to either destroy them or, at the very least, delay them.0 -
I remember beating Maggia in Prologue with cHawkeye/mBW/mStorm, was hard but doable *shrug*0
-
The Maggia are probably supposed to be the boss encounter for goons. Don and Muscle all have tank level HPs with some extremely potent abilities. Even Thugs have a rapid fire decent damage ability they spam, and Hitman can usually one hit kill most players.
Generally speaking you can afford to have a few Threatens go off as long as you stop all the stuff that actually does damage, including any cascades caused by Threaten itself. Tommy Gun is no longer the one hit team kill attack it used to be, at least without Threatens. Sometiems you just have to take some Pistols or Backroom Deals. Covering Fire is extremely weak, and the extra AP is generates is hardly relevent since the Maggia are usually sitting on a ton of AP to begin with. It does mess up your plans to get blue tiles, but it's still better than being dead.0
