    A lot of stored mana cards do that if you are casting them for less than the maximum stored amount.

    Or is this happening with full stored mana?

    Probably just trying to keep things consistent, they have a check on all stored cards to ask if you want to cast at partial fill and then the card activates which has it's own prompt, and some cards might not have their own prompt (like March of the Multitudes does have a prompt for spawning tokens but it is entirely unnecessary for game progression, I can't think of a card that doesn't NEED a prompt and also doesn't have one already). And for Banefire (and similarly Electrodomination) they didn't add in extra case checking for those under partial casting because the cards target selection prompt would also handle the partial cast check at the same time. Not really broken, just not as fluid as it could be.
