Juice for the Squeeze

So I was doing the Trial of Zeal today and ground my way all the way up to the first set of mana jewels (300 pts) and was thinking about continuing; then thought about it. At least 9 games per 100 pts, just to get a pack which is near-worthless, then I’d have to do it again to get the next set of crystals. These payouts are absolutely awful.

Considering how terrible the prizes are in individual packs, I shouldn’t have to play 9 games (assuming I run perfect, so probably 10-13 for most players) to get a single pack. Coalition events are WAY worse even a lot of the times. I think there needs to be some serious consideration made of how much rewards there are per game played. Training Grounds pays 10 crystals per four games, and that is also pretty bad. What’s sad is that is better than the rewards in Trial of Zeal.

Trial of Zeal is an old event. I'm assuming either the point cap or the amount of points awarded is an oversight after being repurposed.

Yes, the 750 points progression is the same as it used to be when it was a coalition event and some nodes gave out like 50 points each time.

This may be the worst example, but there are plenty of events where you have to play dozens of games for extremely meager rewards... even less than training grounds. The 4 & 5 node coalition events are just as bad. Especially when you have to keep playing past progression to help your coalition advance

Hey, they gave the event to us as a story type and 3 days to grind it, whaddya want? For them to actually update the points to something that you could achieve in half that time? ;)

I agree, in a certain extent, they gave enough time ... but 750 points ... 50 games grinding the same fight again and again .... That looks more like factory work than leisure ...and sounds a bit too much for relatively low rewards anyway.

The idea of an old PvE event getting revamped in this way is so that the players can play it on their leisure in the relaxed time frame. Not so that they have to grind grind grind and play each encounter almost 5 times.

Agreed, most of us are adults with real lives that requires our time as well.  Can't just sit down and play hours and hours of mtg each day

I mean, I’m not opposed to them having an event that requires dozens of games to grind, but at least have a real reward at the end. Like a mythic... not a pack

I don't think the grinding part was done on purpose. They just didn't update the required ribbons or the awarded ribbons for the upper tier encounters when porting this event from a coaltion event to a single player, storylike event. As such, this should be reported in the bugs section of the forum.

Edit: Revolt against the Consulate is similar to Trial of Zeal. Trial of Zeal should get the same ribbon structure.

I kinda liked that there was a grind. If it only paid out more runes.

I’m pro grind, but you should get something FOR grinding. One pack at the end of 30 games is not a payoff. Training grounds should set the MINIMUM as a standard, per 4 wins approx 1500 runes plus 10 crystal
