They need to rework the whole ranking system, thoughts?

No one can deny that its very depressing when you get 2 points off perfect and go from rank 1, to rank 38, or 40, or 27, etc. This whole system needs a rework, people getting the same points and pushing people up further is a terrible idea, it makes only a few couple people get rank 1-5, and NOBODY gets top 25-11, that shouldn't be.

So here's my ideas, and if you have a better one, feel free to leave a comment saying so! We need the devs to see this!

It's fine as it is.

Make a much smaller player limit to all events so that its more common and easier to get a higher rank

Remember, Hibernium drastically reduced the bracket sizes because of this exact issue and that worked out pretty well, even with the reduced rewards that came with it.  I wouldn't mind doing something like that again.

Then of course Oktagon re-increased the bracket sizes of the Hibernium events and didn't bother to put the rewards back to where they were, but that's a whole other issue.

I agree, Oktagon just needs to care, obviously they don't communicate very much, maybe even at all. The rankings with 3000 people in one area of the event makes it just about impossible to even get top 100, i got 98.7% in one of those events, and got top 250-101, which was very very annoying.

If the ranking system is stacked, I imagine that the prizes will be nerfed to the ground, maybe so low no one care to win.

If the brackets are made smaller, the prizes will most likely also be reduce, but most likely not as much as with the stacking solution. It depends entirely on the bracket size.

Personally, I think that it is better if perfect scores are much more difficult to attain. How to do that I have no clue at this time.

I'd prefer they were more like progression rewards. Just have progression brackets all the way up to a perfect score.

I voted other because this problem is kind of inherent to the game. Let me explain...

With a perfect match making system, you expect to win 50% of the time. With a win/loss ratio like this, it's very easy to rank players because nobody will have a perfect score.

Now with mtgpq, the game is designed differently (because it's not real pvp) and it's realistic for people to have 100% win rate. People are hitting the cap and the system is having to use an alternate rule for ranking. (time - which is bad)

There are a lot of ways this could be fixed, each with their up and down sides:
    - make the objectives a lot harder
    - make the AI better
    - have actual pvp
    - give everyone with the same rank the same rewards
    - ...

I just don't think these types of events are suited to this game the way it is currently balanced.

Having pvp events in a purely pve game is bound to fail, because players are going to get better and better to the point where they will win all the time vs the AI. If you don't let players actually compete against one another, then multiple people will reach the top.

Stack ranks as a simple solution (without nerfing rewards of course).  I also like the suggestions of "other" things.  Lets' just have some "GOOD" change to benefit everyone.

C'mon, there are already too many cards for the casual player to obtain, make it possible to get more easier.

A smart greg  will make progression too difficult especially for average and below and cause to much grief. Greg was nerfed for that reason. Current greg can get out control in koth and other multi color pws already.
True pvp is the most ideal. But I don't think the game can grow large enough to support a true pvp
