Packs or straight-up abilities?

We have gotten our alliance to 19 people, and it will probably fall to a different commander to take us to 20, so i am now at the point where I can actually start using HP to buy things! It seems to me that straight-up leveling an ability for 1250 is WAYYYYYY better than buying a feature 10-pack. 100% chance for 3 covers for less hp than a 46.7 % for one cover seems like a no-brainer to me. But I know they make bank on their feature packs, so apparently I'm in the minority here? Is there something I'm missing here?

For people trying to build their rosters with new characters, the 10 pack can help them do that. It you just want to level up your characters, it just depends on how much of a gambler you are. lol.

The featured 10 packs are a fools gamble. The devs have lowered the odds of getting the featured character to the point now where it is stupid to buy a 10 pack, couple that with the fact that you get 1 and 2* characters from just doing matches, the value of the 10 packs is almost nothing. I would never suggest buying the 10 packs.

Definitely spend the money to directly upgrade rather than rely on luck, the odds are simply not in your favor, couple that with the sheer number of different 3*, the chances of you getting one you actually want or can reasonably use are super slim.

Check the odds, do the math.

If you have a decently leveled roster you probably should just buy the cover

Buy the cover since 10 pack no longer guarantees featured 3* character unlike the early days of MPQ

The packs that only has a single 3* available (0% chance for every other 3*) are a good deal if you are missing a certain color, and a slight risk to gamble compared to buying covers outright. These packs are also increasingly rare and they're the only kind that's worth gambling on.

From a statistical point of view, it is more likely to upgrade a cover 3 times for 3750 HP, spend 200 HP on the daily deal and pull another 3*, than getting 4 or more 3*s from a 10 pack, so if you want to gamble, just buy one of the tokens from daily deal and save the left over HP for covers.

10 pack is a lottery ticket, only get it for prog and season rewards, check out your luck. Definitely only spend HP on roster slots/shields for needed 3* covers/cover upgrades/healthpacks if terribly pressed for time, in that order.

The packs are a better deal when you're starting out and could use 2* and 3* characters. The more you build up your 3* roster, the less helpful the 20% chance of getting a 3* cover per draw helps you.

Buying a cover directly is a better deal, but it still costs $6.25-$12.50 in-game currency to do so. I recommend using HP for roster slots as needed and patiently growing a 3* team while building up your 2* characters.

Meh, 2* covers drop like rain now. And for a non-zero chance to get no 3*s at all, it's extremely risky to say the least.
  • Packs are for rewards or gambling. Logical individuals need not apply.
  • Neither, save your HP for shields, boost and cover slots. Unless you're missing a really really crucial cover don't buy it.
