Returning player after a while, couple quick questions

Hello all! I’m back after a while and I have some questions and figured this would be the best place to ask! I'm definitely going to dive back into the forums to pick up a bunch of info of what I've missed, but I need a quick start.

I left right when Supports and red-iso came out. What’s the cliff notes version on these? Pick two and level them up hard? Spread out the red-iso on all of them? “You must get [blank] and attach it to [blank]”

Any new metas? My go to is still R4cket & Groot, G4mora, and Medusa for basically everything. Who are the good new characters and who do they match with?

What else do I need to know? I heard something about being able to save covers? I feel like a baby again, haha.

(Here are the characters I don’t have nor do I know about:

4: Bishop, Black Widow, Dazzler, Domino, Emma Frost, Ghost, Magik, Namor, Nebula, Prowler, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man (IW), Talos, Taskmaster, Wiccan

5: Cable, Captain America (IW), Captain Marvel, Doctor Doom, Hela, Kingpin, Kitty Pryde, Loki, Okoye, Wasp)

Secondly, my opinions:

If you can manage it, try to acquire:
Bishop

Kitty & Okoye

You can save covers that aren't usable rather than having to trash them for iso.

Supports are... probably not worth much focus. If you get some that can be useful for PvE clears, all the better, but rarely make enough impact to really matter. If you have a good one, level that one up to max. No need to spread the RIso around.

It's still impossible to get the support of your choice, so it would be use and level up whatever supports that are most useful to your favourite or most used teams.

There were some changes to Support Tokens odd rates and Support Circuit PvE that lasted for 10 weeks(?).. But that's about it.

New meta: 1) Bishop, Kitty Pryde and R4G in Simulator and 2) Kitty Pryde and R4G in PvP and sometimes in PvE.

That could change with the new 4* Thanos who is a counter to R4G. It's going to be a while before many players can champ 4* Thanos.

Instead of selling your expired covers for characters that you have 5 powers in, you can save it. There's no cap I think. Save up 5 covers for 2* to 4* and you can convert it to 1 cover of your choice. It's 3 covers for 5* instead. There are some issues applying covers from the vine if you have a dupe of that character. 

I leave the characters to others.

Of the 4*’s, aside from Bishop who’s clearly the class of the group, Ghost and Domino are both quite good, with Domino being the better of the two if you are a 5* player already.  Spider-Man (Infinity War) is solid if he tanks (which based on memories of your posts I’m assuming he wouldn’t outside of BoP) and the rest range from decent to poor (Magik may be better than I credit her for, but her covers have eluded me this far).

Prowler is a pretty good 4-star to pair on a Medusa team, too, especially against tile spammers. He can steal enemy tiles that he fortifies, and with Medusa's healing/AP generation for matches of tiles and her board shake ability, that synergy is pretty awesome with the right third partner.

Kitty is definitely a new meta, but she is a glass jaw on offense without 4 tiles, so match enemy strike tiles off the board and she crashes within a few turns. 

Supports I've been leveling mine evenly, because it's easier to do. Most of my 2-stars and highers are now at level 100, and the three I just got additional tiers in are slowly being leveled up that way. Red ISO is still coming out in trickles, though, compared to the waves of the purple stuff we clock in each day. Your fifth clears in most rounds will nab you a little bit of Red ISO.

None of them do anything too much, but there are a few if you get it is worth putting Red ISO into. Wong on Doctor Strange 3 or 5 star will help remove countdown tiles and has saved my bacon at least once in every match I've played with him. If you get a 4-star Ebony Maw, his additional chance of black tiles on Vulture makes him a threat very, very quickly. Chavez benefits from any support that increases critical damage tiles.

Other supports are useful in helping get someone to tank specific colors, and keep weaker support characters off the front line. Read the descriptions on the powers of the ones you have, and power up the ones that help your PVE play style the most.

To clarify the Kitty as meta comments - you will need her yellow cover for the "meta" synergy (but of course having all of them is nice too!)

It's impossible to chase supports on purpose, so as with 5* covers, just expect to get what you get and don't get upset. Check them out, if you like them, equip them. they only work in story mode, some make it faster and some slow it down (fortifying tiles etc). The good ones let you start with extra AP or reduce power cost. A lot of them change the base damage on a color, so you can use that to edit who tanks on certain teams if you want to play more technically. Everybody seems to like Royal Talon Fighter with Okoye (i have a leveled up 4* one of those, i'm sure it's great but it can be hard to notice them working)
