I have some maxed 141-level characters. I have a high MMR, and I face level 141 teams in PvP, and level 395 teams in PvE.

However, I also have a lot of non-maxed characters. There are things I want to try out with Falcon, Daredevil, Human Torch, Daken, Moonstone and others. Unfortunately, the game level I face is so high that I can't use any of them, unless I go into the Prologue.

Before MMR, there were always plenty of opportunities to play around with my lower-level teams. Those days seem to be over.

I have found SHIELD simulator to still be a great place to try out new ideas especially in the early days of the season. I would say that I used it that way for almost three weeks to see how good a team was against varied other compositions and whether it invited retaliations. I have used this for exactly what you described from almost the moment i started playing. The only difference now is for the next few days SHIELD Simulator is serious stuff where everyone is trying for points to better their Season 1 standing, which I have no problem with.

Also when there is a Simulator PvE I have used the all goon levels as a testing ground/ opportunity to effect my scaling for other teams that i think might be effective against the goons.
