Widow's green is her sniper rifle. Pretty good ability (when it's maxed out).
You misunderstand. No one MATCHES green strongly, so her PURPLE is not used to full effect.

I contend that this is a bug. Grey Suit Widow and Classic Magneto are the *only* characters whose match damage strengths don't align with their power colors. Magneto is only off by one, possibly because he had a third power added after release and needs his colors adjusted, but GS Widow's color matching is two-thirds broken.

If there were more characters whose powers and strengths differed, I'd ignore this, but 2 out of 27 is far more likely to be an oversight than a design decision.
If it is a bug, it's one I hope they don't fix.

Orrr its a decision so you can keep your spy/sniper in the back row while powering her abilities up

I think it's also because the tiles she destroys from skills do additional damage but doesn't generate AP. So you want to target blue/black when using them, allowing green/red/purple cascades to occur.

An interesting note is that she is powerful in purple, blue, and black. Black Widow Modern has purple and blue abilities, but is also strong in yellow. Black Widow Original has abilities in purple, blue, and soon to be black. Especially considering the name, it could be that Black Widow Original was their original design, and the other two branched off from it. If so, that could be why Grey Suit is powerful in those colors.

Also, how do you have a Black Widow that is not strong in BLACK? That seems like a no-brainer. That is like having Green Goblin not have a green ability, or a goblin ability.

Personally, I don't see this as a bug. More of an actual design choice. A sniper stays in the back to take a shot while the Warriors are out front to play. Having someone else to take the damage while "lining up a shot" makes perfect sense to me.

Again, with only two characters differing, it doesn't make much sense. Your logic would apply just as well to the Hawkeyes, but the game doesn't reflect that.

Hawkeye is acrobatic, hence the avoid ability. Also, they are more sharpshooters than long range snipers, so they need them to compliment their high crit.
