Adapt not working properly

I cast a creature with Adapt 2 (Incubation Druid)

Next turn I matched one of the Adapt gems, and cast a second Incubation Druid.

Instead of creating 2 new adapt gems, it only created 1.

That makes no sense for how Adapt should work, since you are essentially punishing me for playing a second creature before all adapt gems are matched.  That means its probably some sort of bug.

I expect adapt to work like Energy, the more creature I play with adapt the more adapt gems i get on the board to match against.

    The mechanic reads as follows:
When this creature enters the battlefield, Adapt X gems...
    But it really functions as:
When this creature enters the battlefield, Adapt up to X gems (where X is also the maximum allowed Adapted gems on board for this creature)...

It's either a disappointment or not functioning as intended. Either way, it certainly doesn't function the way the text says.

I've discussed this with the team, and I have been informed that Adapt is working as intended. Essentially, each creature with Adapt has its own Adapt value, and as Ark mentioned above, the value shown on the creature can Adapt up to the number of gems listed.

This is why your second Incubation Druid Adapted only one additional gem rather than two. I'll see what I can do as far as suggesting a change to the in-game wording to reflect this.

Ok, thanks for the update (even if it isn't what I wanted to hear :'()

Can I ask why it was designed like this?  It seems like it is punishing you for playing multiple copies of a creature instead of rewarding you.  Its generally bad game design practice to punish players for  playing the game "properly" (as paper MTG discovered with the Threshold mechanic years ago)
