letting threads stay in general for awhile

i move that threads be allowed to stay in general for longer to let them pick up steam before they come here to die. i had a good one going that just died. maybe the devs see things and take them into consideration, but a thread with 100 responses/ likes theoretically will get more attention than one with 7 that gets punted over.
