And that's how you forced me to stop mastering cards.

Ok ok, mastering cards in story mode is kinda forbidden now, so let's see, uhhm, ok I'll level up the newest cards in Rising Tensions np.... alright, done that. Let's find an event to master the Legacy ones now. Ooooops, there was only one available whole week with just a few nodes to use for mastering. You can master legacy in totp as well, but naaaahhh, you do it.

My suggestion.... schedule 2 legacy pvp events per week apart from each other for those who want to master legacy cards. Rewards are **** anyway.

Across Ixalan is the only place to master legacy cards. You’re getting a crack at it all next weekend. Grind, grind, grind!

*Sigh* yeah.... now that Story mode just can't give XP quick enough to master cards, it becomes tedious. I'm definitely NOT going to master cards when playing in actual events, much less Coalition events where error and misfortune is essentially NOT tolerated, so yeah.... goodbye to mastering cards....

When the game becomes a job, people look for another game since most already have a job. Interested to see how the other avenues for leveling up instead of card mastering pan out.

If the game is fun it’s not a job. If you hate it or it feels tedious you certainly should stop playing it.

    I'm sorry???

I really don't understand the point of this post.

Cards shouldn't be intentionally mastered at lower ranks and once you hit Platinum it doesn't matter.

I got 5500 points and leveled up to level 40 this weekend.  Almost all of that was story mode.  It’s not impossible it just takes a little time.

But it's possible to master them, so I want to master them ;) and the level system now offers an incentive to do so

Soon all my cards will be mastered and leveling is not going to be an option for me. Hopefully they address this somehow.

Beginners face many problems learning this game.  Story mode is okay but could be much better.  Advice on how to best use resources and how/when to master cards is sorely lacking.  Lucky players end up in teams of coalitions where they get good advice. Unfortunately, most stumble around trying things and often make mistakes they later regret.

Mastering cards you would not otherwise play is a common mistake.  Players level up too soon, can’t face the competition and give up.

I agree, the new player experience has changed drastically over the years and has become much more confusing with little to no explanation given for anything.

There are now 4 different currencies, 3 different kinds of packs, rotating walker and pack rotation, coalition vs non-coalition events, and a ton of confusing bugs and poorly worded objectives.

I see new players in my coalition become exponentially better within a few weeks simply because we give them info on how to navigate all the different aspects of the game (that would otherwise take months to figure out, if ever).

The tutorial hasn't been updated since the game first came out and it definitely shows.

While I know you may not necessarily be referencing this, when we wrote the New Player Guide in our FAQ, we wanted to keep things as objective as possible, while still providing as much insight and guidance as we could. What we didn't want to do though was have it come off as "This is how players should play. Period.", because each player will have their own preferences as to how they play the game; be it optimal or not.

For example, there are many veteran players here who deem Kiora, Koth, and Nicol Bolas as must-have Planeswalkers. For some new players, this may be exactly what they're looking for, because they want to be competitive and play optimally. For other players though, perhaps they prefer playing with Planeswalkers like Chandra or Nissa simply because they're their favorites.

Is the new player experience something we're always trying to improve? Absolutely! The New Player Guide in particular will be ever-expanding. But I think we want to let players define their own strategies and playstyles, be it through self-exploration or collaboration with other players, and not because (in this case) our FAQ tells them to.

The new player’s guide was certainly a step in the right direction.  But it doesn’t really say anything about card mastery.  And the FAQ on card mastery doesn’t really give any advice on when and why you should master cards.

It doesn’t really discuss any of the more complex elements in the game, which is fine, but it also doesn’t tell you where to find that kind of information.  And it’s all hidden away in settings where it can be easily missed.

The new player guide is fine for what it is.  And I don’t think it’s a good place for answers to more complex questions.  The game changes too fast for that.  It might help to have a further information section at the end that points them here for example.

If they don't want newbie players to master cards, they should tell the explicitly, otherwise some of them will do it just because they think it's something they should do, because it's there.
Why would the Devs include a mechanic like card mastery and then tell you not to use it? Hopefully new players can get with a coalition that will guide them in the right direction.

I'll be still waiting for an answer about how it is fair for people who mastered their cards not being able to level up anymore. New ways to level up are promised, but still sprouting a new arm doesn't change the fact that I'm missing already one. Hopefully they will address this.

Hey, buddy. Thanks for reminding me about this. It tells me exactly what's wrong with this game right now.
