"Seasons"

In the Devs interview they talk about seasons. This seems like a mighty change, of course i am a little afaird of what this could mean but lets hope for the best. So how does the player base think seasons will be included into the present MTGPQ model.

I have two ideas.

First would be a return to a quick battle and non coalition based event that runs for 72 hours straight. Maybe having a legacy one and a standard one trade off. I know this is a favorite of a lot of people, but me myself not particularly. Too much time involved and too easy to lose a lead. Powering through a 72 marathon isn't my idea of fun, but of course i know plenty of players who would lose their kitty over this. I think this season would be ok, i just hope that it stays a single event and coalitions don't get roped into it i believe that would just be too much stress on players.

Second idea for seasons would be coalition based and it would be a month long. Instead of our current game structure now with competitions that end every weekend and that start on Friday and end Sunday or Monday. The competitions would be a month long with 4 mini competitions which would basically be the weekend events we have now. The difference would be coalitions would be awarded and ranked at the end of the month based on their rankings in each weekend event instead of the end of competitions like we do now.
(Many other games tend to have month long seasons)

Anyway these are just my thoughts, i would love to hear what the rest of the players think.

Marvel Puzzle Quest has both granular leveling and seasons already. Seasons there are individual rankings that cross several events and have their own secondary reward pool.  If we land with so much to do that we have to pick and choose but always have something available, I think it will be an improvement.

I'm not sure what the player demographics are like these days in regards to who has older cards. However, notwithstanding limitations of that sort, I'd personally enjoy revisiting past versions of Standard as seasons. Hopefully more recent players could experience the different settings and set viabilities of what it was like while also enjoying events like we saw with Zendikar vs Eldrazi.

That sounds like a wonderful idea. In spite of games evolving and changing, it's nice to always be able to backtrack and occasionally have the opportunity to enjoy the "good old times". Kind of like holding a Ravnica draft with only the original block boosters, or maybe an Alara Block Constructed event.

I bet seasons will track individual performance across all “events” and give rewards including XP.
