Legacy == endless loop. I can not play it anymore

Because of nearly endless loops - paired with increasing animations slowing down the game - I can not play the TotP event anymore.
Seems to me the game is killing itself here:
More and more loop decks loving people have the cards needed - and are using the loop decks in the legacy events.
That increases the "animation problem".

I did quit 4 matches - 3 in a row, because it is no fun anymore. I still have the non-legacy events - but my enthusiasm for MtGPQ is decreasing :(

The AI is not smart enough to fully utilize the decks you speak of on a regular basis. It's mostly luck that gets those chains going. If you don't have the cards to mimic the power decks then take advantage of the cards and PW abilities available to you. Often making sure you're have a lot of creature elimination and support elimination in your spells and supports but also in your creatures so that they serve a dual purpose will often get you a win. Also, if you have discard spells/creatures/supports they will help as well.

I'm not saying that I don't lose matches to said decks but it's not as often as you're describing. If a real player was controlling them, most new players would probably quit the game post haste!

Overall, you may have some serious bad luck it seems!

And I'll leave you with the obligatory, "Welcome to Legacy!"

I dunno.  I haven't lost many matches in ToTP Platinum lately, and I adamantly refuse to play any of my looper decks (they're just so boring).  I also don't have Omni or Olivia or El Piggo.

The key (as someone mentioned above) is playing much more removal than you do in standard.  Like, over half your deck should be some kind of removal.  Also make sure to have some good mana ramp so you always have those Murders charged.

Sure you'll get unlucky and lose to a Deploy the Pigrakul deck every once in a while.  But it won't happen nearly as often as you think you will.

I beat two loop decks this morning by using In Bolas’ Clutches and just taking their lethal Gaea’s Revenge this morning. Granted, the loop stopped early (or else I wouldn’t have survived the attack).

I agree that the format is completely degenerate though.

Strong disagree.  Have been playing TotP daily since my second month of this game about 8 months ago and I think I've missed progression about 3 times (and mostly my fault for not paying attention and trying bad decks).  I even use standard decks for half the colors because I'm lazy (and deck slots, but that's another issue).

While there's a chance it is just bad luck and you're getting the broken decks, it could just as easily be that you need to win quicker.  When I face Nahiri, I expect HUF + Deploy to come at me and try to make sure I win before it lands.  More often than not, the first few turns will just throw a couple pigs at me and I should be in a great state by then.  TotP is my favorite event because it's a subset of Platinum so it has the best decks, and I lose the most in it, which is fine.  Compared to other events where you're stalling matches endlessly to ensure you don't miss a single objective, blech, now those I'm getting sick of.  TotP's not for everyone though.

Of course, this is sort of a feedback loop - in such a ridiculously removal-heavy environment, the best and most consistent way to win is through some kind of degenerate combo deck. After all, if nothing you cast will be on the board for more than a turn, you'd better be able to drop fatal power on the board in 1 turn.

I know that for me personally, a lot of the time I'd rather just lose a fight to a Deploy deck in 3 minutes than spend 30+ minutes grinding out a win against a Bolas legacy deck with Storm the Vault, Olivia and like 8 removal spells of varying types.

Interesting, most replies are about winning or losing.
I was orignially only writing about being not able to play the game.
    Think about it.

Win or lose, games with no interaction are dull, but when it's dull _and_ it then crashes then what's the point?

    Yeah, I get it...

I got it too, and if you read my reply, it was about losing but also about conceding the game.

if you see you get into a no-win siuation, just use the ingame menu and quit that current game

I think he means, literally.... He cannot play the game because the animations are lagging and it takes forever to play the game.  A normal 2 minute match is drawn out over 10+ minutes because the animations.

It would be cool if there were specific events with legacy restrictions to ~3 legacy sets.  So many good cards out there sitting on the shelf just because they aren't as good as the best of all legacy cards

Duel decks would have been the perfect occasion to introduce set restrictions. It would've added a lot of flavor and the color disadvantage of nissa wouldn't have been as big as it is.

I like legacy. It's fun being able to build and tune crazy decks. As for loops, you just have to know when to gracefully bow out and move onto the next match.

I second the idea of limiting it to a set of legacy cards.
Although I sometimes do not want to create new decks - because of lack of time / Laziness / Fear of losing otherwise /... it is always interesting to look for new combinations of card abilities. Limiting the available cards has these to advantages - second best cards are more attractive - new experiences for the player, because of new decks to build.

Yeah... Between Omniscience and Kiora Array that will go infinite without you being able to do anything, to HUF+Deploy that WILL kill you when it goes off, to Starfield lock or Angel tokens where you will lose if you don't have six Demolishes ready.....

This is why I don't bother with ToTP, and even with other Legacy events where the entry is free, I still kinda dread playing when I see potentially any of those ****.

I stopped playing TotP long ago and have progressed down to playing just my coalition events and nothing more...  The weariness is real...  I'm hopeful the new set will bring some new events to reinvigorate...  Bringing back TDW this weekend was a perk up though!
