Trial of Ambition Facing Off With Decks from Other Nodes

I can't recall this happening in prior incarnations of Trials of Ambition, but I have 3 of the last 4 matches being played against a deck built for a different colored node.

I played my first match on the White Node and had to face down Ral, Izzet Viceroy which is a Blue/Red Planeswalker a deck built to meet the achievements of the Blue Node,

My second match was on the Black Node where I faces Elspeth with a mono-white deck from the White Node.

The third match was correctly matched against a mono-green deck with Garruk Wildspeaker.

And now my fourth match is on the Blue Node and I'm facing a mono-black planeswalker - Liliana, Defiant Necromancer with a zombie deck build for the black node.

Should I be seeing these decks built for other nodes or is this a glitch where the decks are not being matched against other decks built for the same nodes?

I also saw this and wondered about the same thing - it didn't happen the previous times we played TOA, IIRC.  I have played all matches on all nodes.  Chance of meeting same colour is approximately 0.25 to 0.3 from my count.

Also, when I played this (and also RotGP), the objectives involving counting (eg. "Summon" 3 or more Zombies) don't work - always stuck at 0 despite my having 8 token zombies and 2 zombie creatures in one match.

Same, the zombie objective on black isn't working and I was matched to Ob Nix on the green node.

Ok, the event should be renamed.  Trial of PATIENCE!

As far as I know you aren't supposed to only face walkers from your node, at least not in the Hibernium events.  You just seem to do it fairly often.

The Oktagon-designed ones all seem to work like that, but there has never (as far as I know) been an official statement saying that it is the new norm.

I remember facing only node-coloured PWs in the last one or two, but I'm not sure whether I'm maybe thinking of one of the other "Trial of.." events.  Didn't really care about that part, and it allowed me to see Greg spectacularly nuke himself playing Ral.  Real comedy gold.

Did anyone get anything to register on the broken counters? Last round I threw in demons and fungi on the zombie objective - no dice.

New kind of objective: Summon more than an unspecified number of an unspecified type of creature.

Important: That is NOT a suggestion!

Hi everyone, according to my information, you can be paired with any other Planeswalker registered in the Trial of Ambition event, and you aren't limited to opponents of the same color as your Node. There are some events such as Trial of the Planes, however, where you are only paired with opponents that are the color of your node.

Thank you for the clarification on that.  I thought that on colored node events that you were playing against similar decks that were geared towards the same secondary goals.  I'll keep that in mind when I remake my decks for that event next time around.

I may have to forgo a few of the achievements as trying for those extra points often meant losing the battle altogether since the opposing deck wasn't always geared for the same goals.
