Plainswalker ability cheats

Is there a glitch or cheat that stops your Plainswalker abilities? Twice now I have played people and not been able to use abilities. There are no cards on the board to prevent this and no opposing player abilities that would cause this.

@Indestructicon Were there any Supports on the gem board? Both "The Immortal Sun" and "Sorcerorous Spyglass" have the ability to prevent players from activating their Planeswalkers' Loyalty abilities.
