Soul-Scar Mage is not getting the boost from casting spells.

Soul-Scar mage does not get the +2/+2 bonus from casting any spell.
The -1/-1 to opponents first creature is working.

Thanks for reporting this. From what you've seen so far, is this occurring with any spells in particular or is this card not getting the buff regardless of what spell you play?

I was playing him using Jaya when I saw this issue.
I think that the buff happens if there is a opposing creature in the first position.
In other words, for the Soul-Scar mage to get +2/+2, an opposing creature must get -1/-1.
Most cases I was casting spells that destroyed the opposing field, such as Nahiri's Wrath.

Soul-Scar mage is not a good card.
I was hoping he would get +2/+2 per spell and the opposing creature in the first place would get -1/-1 per cast.
It costs too much to cast.
Literally the definition of a trash rare.

He should get the buff regardless if a card is in the first spot of my opponent's field.

    You are correct, he should.

Unfortunately, this game has a huge issue with telling the difference between "and" conditions and "and/or" conditions.  If a card has multiple effects, it must have a target for all of the effects to be cast (even if the effect itself is untargeted).  This leads to a lot of confusion as well as a lot of good cards being unplayable.

Sadly all of our calls for a fix (or at least some sort of concrete rulebook) have been completely ignored.
