Beware the elite pack with GRN cards have a very bad twist.
the mythic cards in the Rare+ pack is not the same as those in the Mythic+ pack.
Break away thread from another thread where I wrote the following.

Well played D3/Oktagon. Without informing anyone you have taken a thing we had come to rely on and twisted it so we burn our jewels on packs that we thought contained the cards we really wanted. But in actuality they are not really available.
I am looking forward to see how you are going to mess with the player base the next time.
FYI - I’m referring to the mismatch of cards in the elite collection.

This is not the first time it happens. I thought after they récompensated the players, they wouldn't do it again

I don’t recall any previous errors like this, but can have happened before my activity rise on the forum.
still very annoying and surprising if you are fishing for a specific card as I was.0 -

@Laeuftbeidir - forgot about that, sadly/luckily I wasn’t eligible for compensation. Thank you for the link.0

Oh my god I can't believe it. I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it.
Can't believe I burned 1200 purples on such a bad mythic pack simply assuming probably all GRN mythics/masterpieces available via elites were all squeezed into one pack only. Kind of made sense with IXN, RIX, DOM and M19 packs being around already that their rotations were getting complicated.
But different contents between the rare and mythic elite pack? Really Oktagon?! What other tricks do you have up your sleeves to make people waste their currencies? That's a SUPER SHADY move!1 -
After reading this thread I realised that I missed only one Myth of M+-pack instead of seven. So I pulled a MP.0

Thanks for pointing this out! Makes the current EP a LOT better than it otherwise is!
Went from a bad booster with too much chaff, to my favorite EP ATM0 -
This is bait and switch...
People will pull thinking they are getting cards from the 120 pack but are wasting resources on the 400 pack.
The 120 pack has so many more chase cards (at least for me)0 -

Thia is is not a bait and switch, it is not even improper labeling technically. It’s bad communication, sure. But it is inflammatory and incorrect to assert that we are the victims of a bait and switch. Before purchasing three separate 120 packs, I checked the contents, knew what I could get, and purchased.0 -

Previous Elite Packs (not including the HoD slaughterpack error one) used the "view cards" button by the elite pack label; NOT the more obscure and terribly located "view cards" button above the 120 and 400 pinkies pack purchase button. (Side note: everytime i click that obscure one, i get this odd fear that i will inadvertently press purchase as well).
But with the above in mind, the contents of both 120 and 400 packs were always the same in previous iterations of the Elite pack.
However, without any notification or warning they have changed the structure. So a product that was sold under one pretense has been changed to another pretense. This has wildly confused and taken advantage of their customer base.
I believe this is a form of bait and switch. Perhaps not the traditional swap one for another but pretty close.
At the least it is misinformation/miscommunication/misleading information and shady (if done purposefully but i am kind enough to give the benefit of the doubt and say it was an inadvertent error thats MUST be rectified)
Side note: they should remove the general "view cards" button next to the elite pack banner and relocate the 120 and 400 pinkies pack "view cards" button to the top or middle of the pack to reduce errors. In order to eliminate the possibility of player errors and confusion which can be misconstrued as mistrust by a company offering a specific product.
Tl;dr: Issue needs to be rectified woth professionalism.2 -
I don't understand are people just condoning this kind of activity?
Are we now accepting the fact that shady practices are now completely okay?
I'm very confused. Is it not a business obligation to reduce any kind of confusion to the best of their ability when providing a product? And this should be extremely important when the intent of my purchase cannot be explicitly expressed or confirmed to the company.
Now keeping the above in mind, I do believe as a customer I have an obligation to verify the product I purchase. However I do not believe the process in which I verify this product should be convoluted or easily misconstrued.
It is clear that in the previous elite packs both the rare + and the mythic + packs shared the same cards. There was one incident where one particular card was not shared between the packs. This became a very big issue. This incident alone suggests to some degree that the cards in the rare + and mythic + packs would share the same cards. However with this update it is not the case. Despite this change, there have been no efforts to disclose this information (unless i missed something). I have checked the 3.0 release and it does not clarify said changes. Also there is no disclaimer on the packs themselves stating that they contain different content.
Of course if the company was intending on being a shady company then yes I understand but I'm assuming d3go had no intention of being or has no intention of being a shady company.

I'm really not on the side of trashing things and I would really not like to get into the whole "Taking advantage" of either side of the boat or go into legal aspects. I believe we can be a civilized community that discusses matters openly, and although I know spirits can get a bit high and people can get a bit know-it-all, all in all we're a community eager to see things get better.
That being said, if a large player base notices a certain aspect is being confusing (especially players that have been known for NOT taking advantage of the system for the sake of taking advantage of the system), let's be real, that aspect has probably confusion in it. I really don't like having spent so many purples on a pack expecting more good cards than what the smaller pack actually had - yes, I am aware it was a bigger gamble, but on the other hand only I know what cards I had already opened in regular packs, hence what were the odds for pulling the cards I was interested in. Not having access to those cards at all in the mythic pack was a huge bummer!
Again, I am not going into legal aspects, as yes yes, if we want to go technical, you can view the content of individual packs underneath the large Elite entry. But since up until now that content did not differ (other than rares being excluded from the mythic+ pack), I naturally assumed that nothing was changed. Not to mention indeed, this was not mentioned in the release notes! So again, I am not bringing a legal aspect into discussion, just a naturally confusing change for a player who has been accommodated to the elite pack structure for over a year!
With that being said, I would really like to see a form of reply, explanation, something in an official form - be it a forum reply from a game representative, or ingame via a message. Game representative can be either Oktagon, or more likely D3.
Thanks!1 -
The fact that the new Elite Pack again features different cards for the Rare+ and the Mythic+ packs seems to suggest that this behaviour is actually by design and not by mistake. This is really confusing and definitely something that should have been mentioned in the release notes. I was also suckered by this change into spending 800 jewels on the previous pack I probably would not have.@Brigby can we get anyone to give an official statement about this? While it's not inherently wrong to have different cards for each pack, it's really not on to sneak it past us like that.2

The reason it is possible to assume shady behavior over an accident is Oktagon's tendency to make changes without communicating them to us. Usually it is just changes to how the AI works, but there have been other things done as well without any acknowledgement in the patch notes. Stuff like changing drop rates in packs, or removing masterpieces from Ixalan packs (twice), increasing the amount of time between when a planeswalker is offered for cash and for crystals, changing the way certain cards function (Ambuscade now deals damage equal to the base power of the creature instead of its actual power, this was confirmed as intentional when reported as a bug), and of course the previously mentioned Slaughter Pack incident.
One undisclosed app change is understandable as an error. A dozen? Now it feels like its on purpose.2 -
Side question... I know the "Mythic+" pack guarantees no duplicates. Does the "Rare+" pack offer the same guarantee?0

If there was an announcement in the patch notes or heck, in the inbox when the set came out then it would be on us. Maybe something simple like a title saying "Elite Packs" or "Elite Pack changes" with text saying something like, "Hey guys in our upcoming set, we will be changing how 120 and 400 crystal Elite Packs work slightly. There will be different card pools that are available at the Mythic and Masterpiece level in each of the packs. Be sure to check out the different packs to determine what you want. We hope you enjoy the new set!". There are so many little changes in the patch notes, but nothing detailing this, and this is a HUGE change.
BUT THAT WASN'T THERE! AT ALL! I have never been so mad at this game. I dropped 2,000 purple crystals in an attempt to either get, or chip at getting Niv, Thousand Storms, and the Angel support only to find out that not only did I only pull cards from the guild I least wanted to chase, but I did not chip away at any of the cards I wanted.
@Brigby Please bring this up to the developers. With how much time it takes to accumulate pink crystals and resources in general in this game, this kind of a thing has to have some sort of a response from the team that is making the game. This is just so unfair and cruel.1 -
Furthermore, by their logic of "Hey, there is a button that you can press that says there is a difference. We don't need to tell you.", they could go and stealth remove all mythics from Premium Packs just for fun whenever they want while still keeping them in the other two packs, which would cause the mythics to still show up in available cards and then when people finally noticed what happened they could just be like, "Hey, there is a button that you can press that says there is a difference. We don't need to tell you.". I don't like that I have to be so suspicious as to check each Premium Pack I buy before I buy it to make sure I am not getting scammed or each Elite Pack I buy to similarly make sure I am not getting tricked out of what I am trying to play the game for. I am okay with the idea of them changing the nature of Elite Packs so that there are different cards in the 120 and 400 packs, but if they aren't going to change any of the interface or indicate to us that they are changing something that has been a constant then it really just feels like we are just being tricked.
If there are different cards in the different packs, why not just have them as separate types of packs that you can select in the vault. Like completely separate tabs like the way there are 3 different "Elite Collection" packs that can be purchased. Make it so that we just have them called Rare + Pack and they cost the 120, and separately under another tab have the Mythic + Pack that is 400. Then there is no confusion about what is in each of the individual packs.
At the very least, in this situation, the players who got the packs thinking that there was going to be something they wanted in it should be compensated in some way for the change.1
