Second petition for a better schedule

Dear community, dear @Brigby @Oktagon_Daiane

I know it is difficult to make all time zones happy, but you should really try harder than just changing the starting time of events: this time you completely messed with Europe and Russia (probably more).
With this thread I would like everyone who believe the refresh schedule is wrong in the current form to send a ticket to customer support so that they can see how many people would prefer I more flexible solution.
I usually suggest two ways of dealing with this: 1) all charges upfront (my preference); 2) a longer final period with no refreshes. I already suggested way to implement either of these and I gladly help doing that if given a chance.
Below I am suggesting the text to send to customer support. It contains two parts: A) the request for a more flexible refresh schedule and B ) the suggestion to give all charges upfront. If you agree with both just copy paste the whole message, if not just the first part.

This is the text to send:
Dear D3/Oktagon, in many time zones the current refresh/charge schedule force people to play in very uncomfortable times of their life. Please, update the system so that anywhere in the world it is possible to play the game in a reasonable time of the day. In particular, I strongly believe that giving all charges upfront will not impact the engagement of the game and will make everybody happier.

To help you, here is the link to submit the ticket:

Thanks for the attention,
Gogol

    Ticket sent.

I support the game by purchasing cash items regularly, but since moving to a 3rd shift job with stricter breaks, this has significantly impacted me.

If the refresh system isn't changed I'm going to have to give up playing competitively. And if I'm not playing competitively, there isn't much reason for me to spend cash on this game.

I feel sorry for everyone who has had to go through this for their entire MTGPQ experience.

I agree with both of these suggestions.  Everyone already has incentive to log in every day for the freebie rewards and the TG/AXLN/TotP events.  Giving us all the charges for an event up front would let us more comfortably schedule participation in this game around the other commitments in our lives.  You've already made one good step towards reducing the game's grind when you switched the free pack from every two hours to every six hours.  Please take the next step and stop making us watch the clock to avoid losing charges, or forcing us to wake up early Monday morning to run those last charges before hurrying to work.

You will never find an event start time under the current system that will make everyone happy.  But you can change the system and make everyone happy.

I got an answer telling me they are going to take tdw to the previous schedule. This made me mad, because if changing the schedule might alleviate the problem for me and for tdw, it doesn't solve the issue.

    Here is my suggested answer:
    ----------
Thanks for the answer, but the problem is not the schedule. The problem is the refresh system as it is today. The reason is there is no way to put the current system so that no time zone is forced to play at night or during work or during another busy period and this is due to the fact that the last refresh only gives a 6 hour time window to be played.
I already suggest way to solve this: give all charges at the start of the event: just set the refresh time two hours longer than the event duration and the starting number of charges equal to the max charges of the event and the desired number of refreshes. Just changing the starting time is not solving the problem and thinking that it does means a lack of comprehension of the problem itself. Please, bear with me, but my request is very reasonable if you think that I'm not asking to change the amount of time we have to play the game for each event (even though I think 45 battles are too many). I'm only asking to be allowed to choose when to play.
    ----------
    Feel free to use it

Hi @gogol666. Thanks for rallying the troops, and compiling everyone's thoughts together in your forum threads.

I'm currently working on this week's sentiment report to the team, and rest assured that the topic of "event opt-in/start/end times and their effect on players in different time zones" is on that report. (Events is actually #2 on my list of community concerns, right behind Bugs & Game Stability)

I understand that events are an integral part of the player experience, so I'll be sure to work closely with the team to figure out how we can improve that experience for as many players are possible.

Thanks for your reassurances @Brigby but it’s still copypasta’d cat facts until support also acknowledges it.

To be fair to Customer Support, all they can really do is relay the feedback to the rest of the team. Improving the various aspects of events (such as format, scheduling, event times, etc) is more of a design responsibility, as opposed to Customer Support.

If they are treating it as a bug ticket, as opposed to feedback ticket, then I'd recommend just straight-up informing them that you would like your feedback to be passed along to the team. They'd be happy to relay your sentiment to them.

We, as a group, understand the limitations of support. Is there another avenue we should be directing our “unreasonable requests” down @brigby?

Also, @Brigby did you know that cats have free-floating clavicle bones that attach their shoulders to their forelimbs, which allows them to squeeze through very small spaces.

    :cat: :cat: :cat:

that’s catfact #50 for you (which FTA has learned three days in a row due to clumpy RNG)

We totally understand the point about CS, the thing just is - this forum doesn't feel like it would be an effective way to give feedback or report bugs. Responses to requests are scarce, mostly vague, there are few discussions started from official side (I only remember the one about legendary cards, and I've been here a while. It was a great thing, btw). Answers in the bug forum.. Well, let's just say my basement is in better order, and I've just moved. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes (because..how could we?) - so the mood is not that good.

This is a valid point. From a user’s standpoint we DO feel ignored and neglected.

Thanks for the reply. My intention is really trying to have a better game. Recently, the game seemed stable enough to give a bump to the quality of life request. I hope you guys can really make it something that feels more like a game then to an appointment with the dentist.
If I can add another point under the quality of life list: more communication, more precise and more ingame. In particular about changes to the game. Recently the behavior of supports changed a lot and nobody have us any info about it and we had to try it out. Instead, it would have been amazing to read in the game inbox about these changes.

    Thanks again for the attention

How about the following idea (not sure if it's been voiced before):

    - For each node in an event, let only the first N charges you play count towards leaderboards, where N is somewhere around 2/3 of max.

This way, people who need more charges to complete progression (more casual players) will get to play with great flexibility and have many chances to "make it", while serious players don't have to play all those charges, but still have some flexibility as to when they do play.

This is a fantastic idea.  It would make the third day of an even basically optional, which reduces fatigue.  It would allow players to test out funky new decks without worrying about possibly losing ranking position.  And it would mean that a player who had to start the event late would't have to worry if they miss a charge or 2 before they can play.

    Agreed great idea.
