It's not like someone was saying that the power stone needed a nerf months ago.

Just saying it hardly seems OP given it's not going to happen very often and may not even happen in a given match at all. For example in the 4* tier Mockingbird has essentially the same power (Opportunist fires a free power on enemy match 4 if you have 6 AP in that color) except hers can actually fire multiple times a turn (I've seen it happen a few times on cascades). I've not seen anyone say that power is OP.

In the current PVE format with three trivial nodes, three normal nodes and three essential nodes which must be cleared 4 times to start the countdown, you would statistically expect the Power Stone at 12% to trigger on the first turn in multiple nodes during EVERY SINGLE PVE SUB for both the initial clear and final grind (the odds of it triggering on the first turn at least once during the initial 4 clears in PVE are 98.997%; this percentage goes up on subs with one-time nodes, such as Florida in "The Hunt").  That puts the Power Stone on a completely different level than Mockingbird, whose power is conditional on a couple different levels (the minimum AP requirement and the need for a match-4 rather than any match like the Power Stone).

Presumably you got your odds by just doing .88^36 (9 nodes * 4 clears) to get your 98.99%.

Of course there are 10 nodes now with the 5* essential so it's .88^40 = 99.5%

That does assume you can make a match on turn 1 in a color the character is tanking. If you can't then it won't trigger. So in reality it likely won't be 99.5% chance due to some initial boards having nothing you can match.

    So you need:
    1) Character with strong power worth activating (big nuke, big AoE etc) who is champed to place the stone on (unlike Mockingbird it only activates powers the character has).
    2) Ideally this character has multiple such powers (or only 1 active power)
    3) Character must tank as many colors as possible in order to increase the odds of the stone going off.

That's probably not as many characters as you think. It might be nice to dream of Gambit's Purple (5* land) going off or MeHulks Purple (4* land) but there is just as much chance it's their other powers that fire.

Also as you noted sometimes the power firing won't matter (trivial nodes, battles already essentially won, slowing you down etc).

Still not convinced it's OP'd in any way.

The people that are winning are not 4* players.  They are 5* players.  JJ has 2 nukes.  Thor has a massive AOE.  Okoye can cause a cascade with her yellow and her red is solid.  Gambit has......oh wait. Even if they would use this on a 4*, for pve, it would be on a Thanos Fodder 4* or a GOTG.

But how many times does one character make 8 matches in a row given you only tank 3 colors (4 if team ups). There will be some cascades / double matches that include colors the character with the support tanks so maybe it will take 10-14 turns to activate one time (remember multiple matches by the tanking character only give one chance at the free power fire).

Every single turn is a chance if equipped to Okoye. So every turn a 12% chance of mega-heal/cascade, or spear-death/cascade.

I was looking at the supports of the top players this season, and noticed something odd.
The 3rd place finisher in my bracket (scl9, 1st bracket) has a rank 3 mind stone.
I thought only rank 4s were in game, so does anyone know where this may have come from?

    @Kahmon
Different SCLs award different rank supports for top placement.
