So I just had this in a game.

Was playing against Koth; you know the RED guy....
He plays Firesong and Sunspeaker turn 2, yet EVERY turn after that I took 3 damage and so did my first creature until I killed them......by the way this is from Koth....that RED guy who can't cast WHITE spells...

I took this damage whether he casted a spell or not. It was automatic....

Riddle me.that bugs team!!

Was this in Across Ixalan? Some of the node effects there count as other things, the explore node effect might be counting as a spell the first color of your first creature or something similar.

The "start of turn" effects are considered colored spells. You can check it in the battle log.. Weird interaction !

Yep, ran into a deck a few weeks ago using this fact to pump their mana gorger for free.

This happens when I face Sorin. When the AI triggers the 1st loyalty skill the game considers it a spell I guess. This is probably why it happens every turn against Koth since he always has enough loyalty to trigger the 1st skill.

It's especially annoying it's counting as coloured though...  But it is odd because other things can tell the difference between spells and planeswalker abilities.

Yes, because the game knows what a creature, spell and support are.
It also is aware of the colour requirements to cast them; and the game even knows the sub types of this three as well ie werewolf, land, historic...

So don't know why Koth was triggering it.

But the same can be said why does Vraska still target treasures and not the highest costing support..?

@Monkeynutts Are there any other details you are able to remember? Were there any supports out on the board after your opponent summoned Firesong and Sunspeaker? Who were you playing as? Did you summon any white spells by any chance?

Any information that can be passed along would greatly help the investigation. Thanks!

    I
Don't think those informations are necessary, since it's easy to replicate. I tried it, just throw Firesong in any deck and profit.. Would be interesting whether other on spell triggered cards also work with the effects.
I'm  sure the "start of turn" effects cause this. You can access them in the battle log :the static abilities are considered spells, you can actually access the "card" via the battle log.
    Node 1 "Treasure hunt - player(or opponent) was cast by.. " ,
    colorless mythic spell

Node 2 "exploring the wilderness - player", white  common spell

Node three is also a white common spell

I got progression on node 2 already, no idea what's coming on 4.

    Was playing as Kiora,

I had nothing on the board.
He had Firesong and only support was Molten Vortex. (i think it's called).

Either way nothing was white in any way.

Can confirm Firesong and Sunspeaker are bugged.  Deal damage every turn at the start.
