Trials of the planes - Opponent issues

So I choose my level 15 Planeswalker and I get a level 60 opponent...
I decided that well, the computer must have chosen that planeswalker based on my previous choices. Since I want to play my lvl 15, I proceed to get smashed by the lvl 60 Bolas. No problem, I will wait until next round when they match me up with a level more appropriate. NOPE. They keep mismatching my partners.
Help?

The reason you are seeing level 60 opponents is because your opponents are selected from the pool of decks currently entered in the event (possibly just in the same node, but that hasn't been proven for all events yet). If there aren't any other people playing a low level walker, you can't get paired up against one.1 -
My issue about pool is i always faced only 3 same opponents in 4 nodes.....will you fix this?

So someone else had the same issue. In order to alleviate the problem a bit I upload a very weak deck after completing my progressionEssentially, in TotP Black I played 2 games on each node and then got my lowest level walker and shoved in 4 of the first creatures that showed up for the lowest mana cost and proceeded to do the same with spells.I don't see why we cant help others get rewards. I think it would be cool if others did the same. This way we don't have to waste too much time on the game perhaps.0

Trial of the Planes happens to be an extremely competitive event which also has the distinction of being the only real place to use busted legacy cards. As a result, it is almost exclusively populated by level 60 walkers and busted mythics. That is why I said you should not be playing it with a level 15 walker, since it puts you at an extreme disadvantage.
If you feel like you can't compete with the busted decks there, its ok! Trial of the Planes isn't for newer players, and the rewards really aren't worth it unless you can get full progression (and are at Platinum tier). Just stick to Training Grounds and Across Ixalan for now, until you build up a better collection and higher level walkers.3 -
Just to throw it out there: it's not necessarily an issue with level matched opponents not existing.
I experienced a few situations where I've submitted a low level walker, had a level matched opponent or even two, then after a 60. So I knew there were in fact matched opponents available, but it was giving me a maxed opponent for whatever reason.
In those situations I just changed to a different walker to fight the 60. Today I got a few matches for my level 9 bolas that were level matched, but then when 60s were served to me I switched to my 48 Tezzeret 2 (who would then get level 52 Bolas or other opponents after).
So something is indeed unusual in the level matching. It seems to occur only in TotP in my experience.1 -
What sucks is a smarter Greg and legendary. Empties hand while filling it for the next turn. Rinse repeat.0

I thought you purposefully kept a handful of low-leveled walkers in every event so you're always "First" to face a new player.I thought it was pretty clever and always gave me a good laugh0

I suspect the level matching is screwy in a few particular ways. One thing is I've never seen it match me against the same opponent twice in a row. Alternating between two opponents I have seen. Also, I believe if there is no opponent available in the range of your Planeswalker's level to ten higher, it just grabs the first opponent it can find (almost always a level 60) rather than finding the closest. Last, I'm pretty sure it only saves one deck per player per node, so if you face an appropriately leveled opponent, then they switch their deck, you might not be able to see them again. Considering how small a pool ToTP tends to have, you could habitually play around the same time as someone trying to get a low-level opponent by popping in a low-level deck, then swapping it out for a level 60.

Early in the event the chances to get a low level opponent are rather slim. If you rely on low level opponents, you should play TotP towards the end. But that's no guarantee either.
