Hi Everyone,

With Core Set 2019, we're doing things a bit differently, as we'll be hosting all the cards on our Magic: Puzzle Quest Facebook page instead.

You can check out the Core Set 2019 card gallery HERE

Why on Facebook instead of on the D3 website?  What if someone isn't on Facebook?  What if someone doesn't want to scroll through every card individually?

This is an odd change, but thanks for officially posting the link

I'm not allowed on facebook while at work.

Also I don't comment on things on facebook because I don't trust them (ex: their recent privacy violations).

Also, I can't be a wombat while posting on facebook.  Not as fun.

I vote for it available for viewing elsewhere.

I try not to complain about changes but this is freaking stupid . Please post it in the normal place .

The inability to filter the cards by type on Facebook is a nuisance. Why would you post them there? As you can already see, a lot of people have issues with Facebook in general. This was a poor choice.

I don't handle any of the technical aspects of the website, so please take this with a grain of salt, but I speculate it may have to do with the amount of space available on the website. Each set can have hundreds of cards, and my guess is that the amount of space each card art takes up can also add up quickly, as well.

Rest assured though, we're also thinking of ways we can add the card gallery onto the forum, so if you have any ideas as to how to facilitate this, we're open to suggestions!

Well, unless there is a reason to keep up the Card Gallery for older sets, why not remove the older card galleries to free up space? That seems a simple solution though I don't know if there are any downsides to doing that.

Facebook is odd. No filter! Wait till release or mtgpq.info have this set.

Don't see any strong reasons not to post the gallery on Facebook. I think it's great. Paper magic spoilers are posted on their FB page all the time.

@Brigby the pre-release notes mention the set having 212 cards but there are only 190 cards + 4 tokens previewed in that gallery

They are worried about disk space? Are you kidding me? In 2018 we worry about disk space?! There are bigger issues out there, especially when we talk about a few hundred JPEGs. This is funny.

On the other hand the facebook post has its ups and downs.
The big plus with it is that people actually get to comment on individual cards, which is great!
The big downside is that it's very difficult to navigate when compared to your website library. (can't believe I said that).

Not that I don't prefer mtgpq.info of course, but for preview season the website was great!  ;)

Does Octagon realize that by posting them on facebook you're giving facebook a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any content that you post on or in connection with Facebook?

I'm not sure what D3's contract with Wizards of the Coast specifically entails, but this could get you into some legal trouble with this if you're not careful.

Heh @FindingHeart8 while true T&C don't overwrite other laws so Wizards trademarks and things will protect them unlike we poor mortals. (And they can afford lawyers and we can't!)

well, considering Octagon is acting as the operating company of D3 and voluntarily posting those pictures, it would be a motion of waving their 'all rights reserved' copyright (not trademark in this case) rights

Wizards likely still has copyright over the artwork used in the pictures, so they could contact facebook and make legal threats.  Facebook would likely comply because a legal battle over this material would be stupid and unnecessary as there's no profit involved.  However it'll make Octagon look incompetent both internally under D3 and from a PR standpoint.  I'd have to look over the contracts between Octagon/D3 and D3/Wizards to confirm on this, but from an outsider's standpoint this is still a situation worth avoiding.

+1 to the we poor mortals point though.  It's sad but true.  Which is why I beat my brain with studying legislature lol

I'm 98% certain the mtgpq FB page is run by D3Go.

Yes. That's correct. The MTGPQ Facebook page, where the Core Set 2019 card gallery is located, is run by a member of our Communications team.

Btw. Card are online on beta.mtgpq.info

Nice to filter and nice to know about exclusives to. That's the way to present cards with maximum impact. Or just make an preview update ingame, just for card view. Just my 2 ct.

I really enjoyed watching the cards on mtgpq.info
Why not directly release there? The Facebook presentation of cards with no filters didn't feel satisfying
