    Kytheon's Irregulars then?

    Nope!  Hint:  Its a rare
    GGravblade marauder comes to my mind. He gets better when he makes it through.. But he has no board wiping effects. Aethersquall ancient could be another guess.
    Kytheons Irregular would make sense as well, but like the others, it's also not hidden.

    My guess :

    Abolisher of Bloodlines. It's the backside of a transforming card, so the first part fits, and it wipes the board when flipped. Every creature is better when it makes its through :P

    He didn't say it was hidden, he said you'd likely be surprised you had it. Kytheon's Irregulars is from Origins, so lots of people have it, but it's not really a great card, thus easily forgettable. Any blocking card can potentially wipe out all your opponent's creatures, and renown means it's better if it makes it through your opponent's creatures. All of that is why it was my guess earlier.

    Amusingly, Kytheon's Irregulars is the only Origins rare I don't have. Can't even remember which of them I was chasing and I got it with just those two left. Haven't gone back with 600 to finish the collection.

    Wow that had more debate than I expected.

    @Laeuftbeidir has it right though (although I'm not sure if it counts since he had like 10 guesses.  @FindingHeart8 ruling?)

    It was Graveblade Marauder.  His Bezerker Deathtouch clears the board pretty well, but he deals more damage if he's unblocked.  And I'll bet most of you forgot he existed until just now.

    Up until the last line I thought it was that transforming vampire that turns into a mist and kills defenders.

    With the last line I'm really not sure.  Got any hints?

    That was my first idea, but the ideas in the beginning were just for the discussion.. My guess was wrong

    lets limit it to 3 guesses, unless the person who made the riddle gives permission for more :)

    don't want to have people with riddles that were never solved, but also don't want someone to try to solve it by naming off every card in mtgpq ;)

    Not a bad guess, but mummy is not what I meant by nightmare. I did mean a particular creature type though.
