Slimefoot the Stowaway doesn't trigger Path of Discovery? [By Design]

Every other time I reinforce a creature on the battlefield Path of Discovery triggers.  Obviously this is great when playing with Saproling tokens.  but once you play Slimefoot it stops working.  I can understand my Verdant Force not getting +1/+1 anymore as Slimefoot is not a Saproling, but why doesn't Path of Discovery trigger anymore?  It triggers if I reinforce Verdant Force or Tendershoot Dryad, but not if I reinforce Slimefoot. 

I haven't been able to see if it triggers when you reinforce Slimefoot by casting it from my hand though. Can anyone confirm if it works in that scenario?  

Does this happen with all the "Leader" cards?

Yes, this happens with other leaders like Josu too, it's frustrating...

This is the correct way. Leader replaces a token entering play with a reinforcement being added to slime foot. These types of reinforcement never trigger ETB efects. The same is true for evolutionary leap when it ads a reinforcement to a creature with an ETB effect.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought.  It just doesn't seem to make sence.  If I cast Spore Swarm to reinforce a stack of Saprolings, Path of discovery will trigger 3 times. If I cast the same spell to reinforce Slimefoot nothing happens. I guess the Saprolings are being exiled before they hit the battlefield so it doesn't trigger?

Most likely yes, that's it.  Slimefoot (or Squee or Josu Knight) is reinforcing himself through an ability, not through an ETB.  Path triggers on ETB.  Technically you are probably right that it should trigger with leader, but with how the game works now it does make sense that it doesn't.

Hi Everyone. It is intentional for the Enter the Battlefield effect to not trigger for tokens with a leader, since the tokens are being exiled beforehand.
