How does the AI determine your defensive roster?

When we log off, what do our rosters look like in PvP events? I am curious about SHIELD, as i am trying to follow some beginner guides and get to 600. So far it is proving to be extremely difficult to say the least, but largely because I am getting slaughtered by others. Is there a way to setup a more idea defensive roster - or highest levels take up the first 3 and thats that?

Your defensive team in any single event is the exact team you used for your last victory in that event.

So, for SHIELD Simulator, the defensive team that the general populace sees is the team you used for your last SHIELD Simulator victory. Of course, each person you won against along the way will see whatever team you used specifically against them. None of your activity outside of SHIELD Simulator (e.g. PVE, God of Lies, Lightning Rounds) will affect your SHIELD Simulator defensive team.

what you need is idiot proof characters that have a decent power. ANY character requiring any amount of skill to pull of to be effective is useless in the AI's hands(GSBW, MNMags come to mind) you see a ton of Thor/OBW combos in the PVP, mostly cause they're both idiot proof and they cover all the colors. i believe what roster other people see is the one you last used(and won) in that particular event.
  • The AI picks tiles completely at random for any ability that requires targeting a tile. Needless to say, this rarely produces the kind of result you want.

So two questions for the experts.

    1) If you resign the match, does that still count as your "last used" team?
    2) Why not always use Jugs right before a long stretch? We don't want to use him because we lose health, but when the AI uses him - who cares? He soaks u a ton of damage and can headbutt at will - I know that when I see him, I skip every time...but I am a big noob so I dont know.
  • Resigning a match used to count, but they changed it. Now it's the team you last won with is the representative of your account.

Yes, putting in a 'defensive' character in at the end of your play time is a valid strategy.

The trick to beating juggs is to keep the red off of the board. His green doesn't do much damage. So if you;re in PVP and run up against a team with him, target him first and keep as much red off the board as possible.

If you only have a 1* roster then Juggernaut is your best defensive. He have the highest HP pool for a 1* but that is still very low compare to other 2* or 3*. An OBW at lv 85 have almost the same amount of hp. Ares at 85 have 5000+ hp and his green does the same amount of damage as jug headbutt for the same amount of AP.

So the answer here is both yes and no, at your current lv, Jugg would be the best defensive hero but for every one else he is not so good.

Interesting. So I am not sure what to do with him. He is level 16, but rest are now high 20s mid 30s. I dont use him for offense, seems like it is just more of a nuisance than anything.
  • Does your last defence team work for all 3 nodes or just the node you played. I say this because some team comps are better on one node but not as good on another. Green special node is best with thor/ares or other green using players but on the crit one it might be better to use non green using characters.

For normal events, it's all nodes. I know this because every time I happen to queue up the same opponent in different nodes (i.e. desert vs. lab), they're fielding the same team, even though their point values are sometimes different because they happened to squeeze in a fight or four between two queueings.

However, this may be different for special events like the triple-wolverine tourney, where each node absolutely required a different Wolverine version (X-Force on one, Astonishing on the second, Patch on the third). In that case, there's a possibility that other people can see more than one team per player if that player (ahem, me) used all three Wolverines in various fights.
  • It is indeed a good idea to win your last match with someone who is hard to handle on defense, like Juggernaut at 1* or The Hood at 3*. That said if you're that worried about your rating you probably should just throw up a shield instead. If you know your rating is particularly high relative to your peers, they'll usually have no problem hitting you for 40 even if your team is say Thor/The Hood/featured (likely the strongest defensive team you can field), and if your points are nothing special, you're not really worried about being hit and in fact that might give you some juicy retaliations later if your points are only average or even below average.
