Anyone else noticed the difference lately?
There has always been all sorts of conversations on the forum. Technical analysis, heated debates, humorous anecdotes, healthy amount of complaining about changes
The tone seems different the last few weeks. There have been posts about the game not being fun anymore reaching 19 pages and counting, people airing dirty laundry about alliances, heated debates breaking down into personal attacks to the degree that many threads are being shut down by forum mods.
I never used to see any of this and I could honestly say this was the most pleasant forum I had ever been on, where we can all make tinykitty kitchen jokes, dispense sage advice to newcomers, and pester IceIX for spoilers.
There is a thread today with people essentially yelling at each other about the definition of the word: work. What the tinykitty is going on here?
Is this what alliances and seasons are turning us into? A mob of stressed out, angry, hyper-competitive yahoos?
Is this 'working as intended'?

Of course, if I did agree that the forums are in decline, which I don't, then I would choose the introduction of the mods as the form of the destructor. Bunch of lame killjoys, really.0 -

Yes there is still plenty of the camaraderie, that tone used to be all I saw on the forum, it is different now. True I don't know why, I can only speculate based on my observations and the list of complaints right now is long including scaling, mmr, braketing, poor rewards etc. I single out alliances and seasons because in the past if there was a single event I didn't particularly care for, I skipped it. Now people feel obligated to slog through things they wouldn't have before.TheUnwiseOne wrote:WYP got there before you with his thread. This will be locked now lol0 -
I think people get frustrated, some of it is growing pains for both the game and the player. I remember kicking butt as I was getting a 2* team but when I was going for 3* i got really frustrated and felt everything was unreachable, it makes one angry because they are doing the same thing they always were but get different results. Most forums IMO go through an ebb and flow, positive to negative, complaing vs. praising. New changes bring new complaints. I've been playing solid for about 187 days now, and I can honestly say the game is much better now than it was (thank you respec!!!!) So i'm looking forward to where this game is going. My only complaint is I think we need more contact from devs and more status updates. like the funbalance , give us ideas to kick around even a little information goes a long way.0

I lurked on this forum about a month before registering. If I hadn't found the forum, I would have ragequit in early spring.
I don't like seeing us turn on each other. As grumpy as I come off in most of my posts, I'm super-grateful for all the insight and experience that I couldn't have found any other way.
For me, my frustration comes from 1) moves that seem to marginalize tightwads like me, 2) gameplay changes that encourage grindy, repetitive, and uninterrupted daily play, and 3) the sloggy march of creating a useable 3* roster on the cheap.
(Late Insert) I've aimed to not take it out on any non-D3 poster, but since I'm responsible for the vibe I bring, I apologize for when I've made this forum a less enthusiastic, funny, and supportive place. (/Late insert)
Positives: Respec (truly underrated), alliance chat, giving 2* covers as rare prizes (although I have all 2*s spec'd, save BagMan).
I think the alliances are an overall good, but have simultaneously brought us together and set us against each other. As a member of a great mid-tier alliance, I wish Django, the Fives, SHIELD, and X-Men the best of luck and applad their successes (although I disagree with the hot-swap philosophy, as I think it ultimately kills the idea of a community and could go south in the wrong hands).0 -
Maybe that is the subtlety I am noticing.
Before we would certainly complain about things we didn't like, that has never changed.
The bulk of complaints before were aimed at the developers in a constructive criticism / feedback kind of way.
Now? ...I am seeing many turn their cannons on each other0 -

SO it baffles me as to why you would still post this topic anyway....0 -
Perhaps just nostalgia for the experience the game and forum provided back in the days of yore.
Perhaps just feeling jaded and wanted to vent.
Perhaps I hadn't met my rhetorical question limit of the day.
Perhaps inviting people to add their thoughts and converse.
We may never know0 -
I blame DDD and misguided for leaving0
