Anyone have a nagging suspicion that the next week long tournament is gonna be troll week with C. Storm? We had the Thornament, so it will probably not be far off base to guess at it.

That's okay, most of us who did had a really hard time keeping up with people who already had high-level Ragnaroks.

Have you all run numbers against the LIghtning Rounds and seen if non-top class people are actually doing well? I'm certainly not in ZzzWolph or The Ladder territory (or even slightly below their territory), but I find the Lightning Rounds to be very difficult to place well in. With all the buffed Rags running around last tournament I didn't even try to get past 100 points most of the time. I know you previously said that it was going well, but this last group of lightning rounds seemed to have more high-end people actually wanting to compete (or place 26-50 for the 2* token)

I admit I wasn't concentrating on them either...

Dear lord, I just got attacked by zzzWolph in the widow tournament, ho-lee-cow.

I've managed top 50 in a lightning round once. Should have made it one other time, but didn't realize how high my rank was. Haven't even sniffed top 10.

Haven't run any numbers personally, although I know they're around somewhere. Looking at a top line: The spread for the 3 star token was huge. While there are a few uniques that obviously hit things time and time again, there's also a very large number of them given out across the playfield. Which is what we wanted to have happen, so that's good. Looking at the specific rewards, there's a decent spread on everyone except for Ragnarok. Pretty predictably, he was won by a smaller proportion of players overall. There were still a few Covers that snuck out to other players, but by and large they were centralized.

This was the really we'll thought out part. NOT! Seriously, you had to have rag already maxed in order to win him, due to him being buffed 200%. He was damned near impossible to beat for people who didn't have him already.

It's less of a problem than you think it is at first. There were a couple players that were winning to win and didn't use the rewards for the Ragnarok tournament. So it wasn't all "rich get richer".

Although, IceX, that's almost worse. It means that the players that can actually benefit from and enjoy rewards like that are the ones who don't need them. I can see how from a business perspective that would be positive -- valuable covers get sold for basically nothing, and players who actually want them need to pay to gamble on drawing them randomly -- but it's a recipe for player frustration.

It's not a business point of view at all, although I can see why you would say that. From a personal point of view, I absolutely hate what those players did. They played within the rules of the game, played to win, and did so. I can't fault them for that. But at the same time, they took rewards that were well night worthless to them and threw them out while others could have used them. Those same players could have played for the 3 star token and gotten something out of it, but they didn't.

From a business point of view, it's actually not that great a thing. Having rewards concentrate across a small user base means that over time only that user base will get rewards and thus be able to compete. From a very short term, sure. Causes more purchases. From a longer term, which is what's important, having a wider player base that is capable of competing will keep the game going for longer. I prefer the long game.

Grey Suit Widow and Model 40 are the two rare characters that we've had lots of chances to get. Hopefully we'll see more opportunities to get some of the others as well over time.

That's good. I'm not at all surprised about the Rags, but the rest is good.

And this week's tournament -- you bastards. Will probably be sitting this one out mostly. Not even a yellow spidey in the rank rewards to entice me, and I don't think I have a shot at top 10. That said, I haven't looked to see if there are freebie chars or not.

But hey... No C Storm at least.
