I sent this message to support.

How can we help you with Marvel Puzzle Quest?
My mmr has gotten so high that the game is unplayable, even with boosts. Please reset it.

And got this response:

Hello!

Thank you for contacting us!

Could you please clarify your request please? If you want your account to be deleted, please note that we are able to do this, but it is permanent and irreversible. If you have your account reset, you will lose all purchases made on the account, all covers, all ISO-8 and all Hero Points on the account. These cannot be recovered or moved to another account.

If you still wish for us to proceed and reset your account, then please reply and confirm your wish to continue.

Regards,

D3Publisher Support Team

So .... how can I explain MMR to D3 support without getting my account deleted? Do they even know what MMR is? Can they change it?

  • Hahaha

Well, that's certainly one way to reset your MMR icon_e_wink.gif
  • i would just not send them another response incase...and just tank ur mmr the way everyone else is doing it right now...unless its pve, i dont know how that works
  • I sent the same kind of message last week and got " YOUR MMR IS WORKING AS INTENDED" and i believe others also got the same response, so in that regard i think we are tinykittied out of luck.

But... when I try to lose, it's like I'm cursed to win ... I'll go up against a level 700 Ares, Juggs, Daken team with Hawkeye, Venom, and Yelena ... and the first tile match starts a cascade that just never ends. The whole board fills with critical tiles, and a look of fear comes over Jugg's face as he's the last to die.

Just like what happens to me when I'm actually trying to win.
  • i'm shocked you even got an answer. i've been waiting 10 days on one ticket and 4 on another.

on topic though, i'd assume they won't get it, since they're not devs or community managers, and you probably won't have much luck getting what you want, though you shouldn't use acronyms they might not understand.

you can try explaining it as "No I DO NOT want you to touch my account, just my Match Making Ranking, it's the setting that determines the difficult of the enemies i see in the game, and right now it's set so high that i can't even play at all right now due to the difficulty." you can ask them to talk to an engineer etc to. while they may understand the request, i'm not sure it'll get much further than that.

Or you could just PM Ice and/or Will.
At least they'll know what you mean while they write back that 'it's working as intended' icon_e_wink.gif
  • For what it's worth, my experience dealing with customer support is that 99% of the time, any gameplay related question that reduces their ability to monetize you / encourage you to spend money is met with " sorry, you're SOL". The single time they actually were helpful was when I had my username changed, and presumably that was because they figured that it wouldn't "cost" them anything and weighed in favor of keeping me around longer for more potential purchases.

Bug reports they'll listen to, or if you have technical problems (depending on what it is), but anything bordering on customer support in the traditional sense - e.g. satisfaction with purchases, or adjustments, or if you decide you'd prefer to have that ** cover you just deleted are completely ignored.

So this pretty much falls right in line. They'll be happy to reset your account and delete all your progress so you can hopefully spend more money, but they will under no circumstances make a change that makes it easier for you to earn covers /reduces the likelihood you'll get frustrated and just buy the covers.

If you think of them as videogame drug dealers, then all their questionable design/ customer service choices make more sense. icon_lol.gif
  • Your PvE MMR/level scaling is a reflection of your playstyle. So, I would assume even if they could 'reset it', your playstyle would gradually put you right back where you are today.

I think that's what they are saying when they respond "scaling is working as intended".

Translation: playing in any manner that reduces grinding, and/or need to use health packs will screw you over since not spending money is a crime in this game. So the best way to play is the way that will net you maximum damage to your character, and max health pack use while still somehow managing to progress. i.e. putting yourself in a position where you might need to buy health packs.

But they've pumped up levels to the point where I can't spend money.

If they lowered the levels some, I could play, buy health packs, buy boosts. As opponent levels go over 300, they become unbeatable except by extreme luck. And not many others seem to be fighting them either, so at least my ranking can stay stable for 8 hours at a time. it just seems idiotic to me that they would forego 8 hours of revenue just to prove that they can make the game unplayable.

But if you could reset your MMR by requesting it from support, why wouldn't all of us do the same thing? Every day?

Doesn't sound like it would be wise for them to open that box.

It's because they want to encourage really hardcore competition between top guilds. You'd be surprised how much money some of their members spend. So they know that for alliances spending hundreds / member / week, the question of whether or not nodes are playable is irrelevant. They'll spend their way through with boosts, health packs, etc.. to be #1. They don't really care about any of us who're just moderate spenders, only really the hardcores. Spend $1k+ a month, and they might actually listen. Spend like a normal gamer and any support requests just fall on deaf ears.

I can guarantee that my roster is no where near as Puritas' (never seen it, just assuming), and I am seeing 120. Ugh.

I can tell you that Puritas just jumped into the Osborn event. That might be the first match for Puritas.

Ok. That makes more sense. I've been playing since it opened. I'm at almost 13k, almost 27k over all.

But even though the hard node have been kicking my kitty all last night and today, apparently my MMR has not went down.
