Game freeze: replacing a creature

Setting :
Bolas against koth,
I was playing a discard heavy build, had.. Two creatures out, used bolas second ability and then wanted to replace one of the creatures. Game dead now.

    Was the creature being replaced disabled by something?  I saw that happen to me once.
